DraftKings MLB: Wednesday Picks

DraftKings MLB: Wednesday Picks

This article is part of our DraftKings MLB series.

Wednesday's featured evening slate contains 13 MLB games, with only Oakland, Baltimore, Milwaukee and San Francisco missing due to earlier start times. The players below reside in different price ranges, but they should all bring significant value relative to their respective costs.

PITCHER

Antonio Senzatela, COL at KC ($5,800): Senzatela's price has come down due to his inconsistent role of late, making him a strong buy-low option in this pitcher-friendly situation. Kauffman Stadium's 20th-ranked 0.96 park factor makes it a favorable place to pitch compared to top-ranked Coors Field at 1.32, and the slumping Royals offense has fallen to 21st in the league at 4.46 runs per game. While Senzatela's 18.5 percent strikeout rate is nothing to write home about, the 22-year-old does have seven quality starts on his ledger in 18 tries while Colorado's dangerous offense has helped him achieve a 10-4 record up to this point and could easily power Senzatela to another win.

Luis Severino, NYY at DET ($12,300): Severino is having a tremendous campaign, but the league's hardest throwing starter would be even better if he didn't play his home games at the hitter-friendly Yankee Stadium. His road ERA is a tidy 2.40 over 82.2 innings in 13 starts, and Severino also has a 1.08 WHIP and 98 strikeouts away from home. Another dominant outing is likely in the cards against a Tigers offense that ranks 22nd with a .732 OPS against right-handed pitching.

CATCHER

Cameron Rupp, PHI vs. MIA ($3,000): Rupp's enjoying a nice season against southpaws, having mustered a .349 wOBA. The catcher displays tremendous patience in this split with a 17.2 percent walk rate and 28.3 percent strikeout rate. Marlins starter Justin Nicolino has shown an inability to put hitters away with a 4.99 K/9, so Rupp should manage to work the count without much fear of striking out.

FIRST BASE

Paul Goldschmidt, ARI at NYM ($5,500): Even without home field advantage, Arizona's dangerous lineup should be able to pummel Mets starter Chris Flexen. The righty's only in the major leagues because of injuries to regular starters and owns a 6.55 ERA and 2.00 WHIP through five starts. Goldschmidt's .421 wOBA in righty-on-righty matchups is actually better than his robust .401 mark against lefties while batting clean-up in this contest should give the NL MVP candidate plenty of opportunities to drive in runs.

SECOND BASE

Yoan Moncada, CWS vs. MIN ($3,200): The switch-hitting Moncada has only found success from the left side thus far, mustering a .370 wOBA there and just a .157 mark from the right. He'll be batting left-handed against righty Ervin Santana, and that should lead to good results once again since the veteran starter has surrendered multiple earned runs in nine consecutive appearances.

THIRD BASE

Adrian Beltre, TEX at LAA ($5,100): Angels lefty Andrew Heaney gave up five earned runs over five innings in his season debut, and is unlikely to fare any better against this dangerous Texas lineup. Beltre in particular has crushed left-handed pitching, posting a .418 wOBA in 64 plate appearances. The veteran clean-up hitter's been averaging over one RBI per game in his past 20 and all signs point to him continuing his hot hitting here.

SHORTSTOP

Zack Cozart, CIN vs. CHC ($4,400): Cozart is ready to punish fill-in starter Mike Montgomery like he's been doing to left-handed pitchers all year. The All Star shortstop has a .478 wOBA in that split, and that number jumps to .546 in 46 such at-bats in Great American Ball Park.

OUTFIELD

A.J. Pollock, ARI at NYM ($4,600): Unlike most of his teammates, Pollock's production isn't beholden to Chase Field. The outfielder's .335 road wOBA against righties is actually higher than his .324 home mark, and batting second in the Arizona order puts him in good position to add value through runs and RBI. Flexen has allowed a .455 wOBA to his first 58 right-handed batters faced, so you'll be hard-pressed to find a better time to use Pollock.

Delino DeShields Jr, TEX at LAA ($4,500): DeShields is another Ranger that has found success against lefties, as he owns a .347 wOBA in that split. The leadoff man has also provided tremendous value on the base paths of late, nabbing five steals in his past five games and six in his last eight. Texas will almost certainly score a few runs against Heaney, and DeShields is as good a candidate as anyone to be the man crossing home plate.

Eddie Rosario, MIN at CWS ($4,600): Rosario has quietly put together an impressive campaign, posting a .372 wOBA against righties while hitting 16 of his 17 home runs in that split. Squaring up Chicago's James Shields should be a piece of cake for Rosario, as the veteran righty has allowed an astronomical .439 wOBA to left-handed batters over the course of 169 at-bats this year.
