DraftKings MLB: Saturday Picks

This article is part of our DraftKings MLB series.

PITCHER

Jeff Samardzija, SF at CWS ($9,400): I'm just as comfortable with Samardzija as any one of the higher-priced pitchers on today's slate and get to save some money, as well. Samardzija is close to a lock for a quality start, having done so in his last eight outings. He's also allowed just five hits and one run to go with 14 strikeouts in his last to starts. The White Sox haven't done much in the last three weeks (since Aug. 19) with a .291 wOBA and 28.8 percent K rate against righties.

Andrew Albers, SEA vs. LAA ($6,300): I like Albers in the situation. Coming off a great outing against the A's (6.0 IP, 1 ER), Albers has a chance to pitch just as well here. The Angels haven't been hitting much and have one of the worst wOBAs against lefties since the beginning of August at .276.

CATCHER

Mike Zunino, SEA vs. LAA ($3,400): Zunino has a large possibility of doing nothing due to a 40.9 percent K rate in his last 22 plate appearances against lefties. Yet, his .286 ISO is all I need to see at this price. Andrew Heaney has given up at least four runs in three of his four starts, which includes 11 homers in 15.1 innings pitched against righties.

FIRST BASE

Kendrys Morales, TOR vs. DET ($4,000): Here's another power play on a guy that could be boom or bust. Similar to Zunino, Morales has a solid .286 ISO and .440 wOBA in his last 24 plate appearances against lefties. He also faces a lefty hurler that's gotten lit up recently, as Chad Bell has a .394 wOBA allowed and 5.67 xFIP against righties.

SECOND BASE

Joe Panik, SF at CWS ($3,900): One of my favorite things this season has been using lefties against James Shields. Panik fits the bill and has been crushing in the last couple of weeks with a .490 wOBA and .364 ISO in his last 35 plate appearances against righties. Shields has some of the worst numbers in the league against lefties with a .416 wOBA allowed and 6.17 xFIP. Don't ask me why Panik is less than $4,000 for this game.

THIRD BASE

Josh Donaldson, TOR vs. DET ($5,300): Morales wasn't going to be the only Blue Jay I used with Bell on the mound. Donaldson brings even more power, though, with a .375 ISO and .405 wOBA in his last 28 plate appearances against lefties. The Tigers are in freefall and Bell is projected to start after being shelled for eight hits and five runs last time out against the Indians. As of note, Donaldson missed Friday's game with a cold, so his status should be confirmed ahead of time.

SHORTSTOP

Brandon Crawford, SF at CWS ($3,400): Oh, hey, another San Francisco lefty that's extremely cheap. Just like Panik, Crawford has been on a nice run with a .478 wOBA and .314 ISO in his last 56 plate appearances against righties. Shields has given up 11 runs in his last three starts with most of that coming against lefties.

OUTFIELD

Josh Reddick, HOU at OAK ($4,600): Reddick has been one of the few consistent bats for the Astros in recent weeks, sporting a .403 wOBA in his last 53 plate appearances against righties, and now he gets to face his former team. On the mound, Daniel Gossett has a 4.67 xFIP against lefties and has allowed 24 hits in his last three starts.

Jacoby Ellsbury, NYY at TEX ($3,600): In the same mold as Reddick, Ellsbury has been one of the hotter Yankee batters with a .403 wOBA and .212 ISO in his last 38 plate appearances against righties. Andrew Cashner has looked better in recent outings, but still has a huge 5.93 xFIP against lefties this season.

Scott Schebler, CIN at NYM ($3,500): Schebler rounds up the outfield with solid all-around numbers against righties, posting a .414 wOBA and .333 ISO in his last 58 plate appearances. I also needed at least one Reds player against Chris Flexen, who has been ripped for seven runs in each of his last two starts.
