Yahoo DFS Basketball: Sunday Picks

This article is part of our Yahoo DFS Basketball series.

There are seven NBA games scheduled for Sunday, though only six will be included in Yahoo's bigger tournaments, as they'll leave out the 3:00 p.m. EST matchup between the Bulls and Clippers. However, there's still plenty of value to be had in the later games, with a few matchups easily exploitable due to good defensive situations or teams that play at a high pace.

GUARDS:

Dwyane Wade, MIA vs. ATL ($26): Wade is averaging 48 fantasy points per game over his last three, doing a fantastic job of setting up the Miami offense. He's done all that damage while playing 34 minutes or less, so it's clear that he can put up elite numbers in limited minutes. The $26 price tag is what makes Wade so intriguing, as he should easily be over $30.

Archie Goodwin, PHX at DAL ($16): Goodwin has played very well since taking over the starting point guard job five games ago. He did have a dud in his most recent game, but Goodwin was averaging 33 fantasy points per game in his previous four. This is certainly risky with his role a bit up in the air, but Goodwin still doesn't have to do a whole lot to live up to his cheap $16 price tag. This is also a great matchup, with Dallas putting out players like Deron Williams and Raymond Felton at point guard to match up with the athletic Goodwin.

Guard to Avoid:

Andrew Wiggins, MIN at POR ($31): Wiggins is a great scorer, but he doesn't do much else. In fact, Wiggins hasn't had more than seven rebounds or four assists since the middle of December. That's just too hard to trust for DFS and it makes it even tougher with his recent struggles. Wiggins is coming off a nine-point fantasy outing and hasn't scored more than 27 fantasy points in any of his last four games. This is no slouch of a matchup either, as Wiggins will be shadowed by Al-Farouq Aminu, who can be a great defender.

FORWARDS:

Chandler Parsons, DAL vs. PHX ($25): Most fantasy owners know that Parsons got off to a dreadful start this season, but he's been one of the best small forwards in the NBA over recent weeks. Over his last seven games, Parsons has scored at least 30 fantasy points and is averaging just shy of 40 per game in that span. This is a great matchup as well, with Phoenix ranking in the bottom-three in defense and fantasy points allowed to small forwards this season.

P.J. Tucker, PHX at DAL ($16): There's nothing exciting about using a player like Tucker, but he's incredibly reliable. What's made him so reliable are the minutes and injuries in Phoenix. Outside of a game when he got injured two weeks ago, Tucker is averaging 37 minutes per game in his last five. He's also been incredibly productive lately, scoring at least 27 fantasy points in four straight games. This isn't a great matchup, but it should be relatively easy for Tucker to reach value at an incredibly cheap $16.

Forward to Avoid:

Kent Bazemore, ATL at MIA ($25): Bazemore has been solid this season, but his price is creeping up too high right now. Over his last 11 games, Bazemore is averaging 11.7 points, 4.5 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 2.5 turnover per game. That's under 20 fantasy points per game, which is simply not enough for a $25 player. This is a tough matchup as well, with the Heat ranking as the seventh-best defense in the NBA in fantasy points allowed to small forwards this season.

CENTER:

Gorgui Dieng, MIN at POR ($14): With Kevin Garnett expected to sit again, Dieng should start and give great value on his price. Dieng has been fantastic when he has started recently, as he has scored at least 22 fantasy points in six of his last seven games. Even better, Dieng has scored an incredible 81 fantasy points across his last two games, which shows just how high his upside can be when he gets a full complement of minutes. The reason his price is so cheap is because Dieng was deep down in the rotation, but that shouldn't be an issue with Garnett expected to sit. This is also a great matchup, with the Trail Blazers sporting limited frontcourt talent.

Center to Avoid:

Robin Lopez, NYK vs. GSW ($15): This is almost a pure play against the matchup, as this game flow has disaster written all over it for a player like Lopez. Not only does this game have blowout potential, there could be a lot of small-ball lineups. Golden State's center, Andrew Bogut, is only playing 20 minutes per game and that will likely be the only time Lopez will be able to stay in this matchup. The Warriors could opt to stick Draymond Green at center for the majority of the game and that will ultimately pull Lopez out, with Kristaps Porzingis taking over at the five. Additionally, Lopez hasn't scored more than 21 fantasy points in five-straight games.
