FanDuel NBA: Tuesday Value Plays

This article is part of our FanDuel NBA series.

Point Guard
Deron Williams, DAL vs. ORL ($5,700):
Since returning from a calf injury, Williams has been back to his old form. Over his last seven games, Williams has scored at least 24 fantasy points six times and has surpassed 40 fantasy points twice in that span. The price doesn't indicate his recent form though, as he should be well above $6,000. The matchup is good as well, with the Magic ranking in the bottom-half in the league in fantasy points allowed to point guards. Another strange stat is that Williams is averaging 30 fantasy points a game in his home building, while averaging under 25 fantasy points on the road.

D'Angelo Russell, LAL vs. BRK ($5,300): Russell has taken over starting point guard duties and performing very well. In fact, he has scored at least 30 fantasy points four times in his last seven games. The minutes is what made him inconsistent at the beginning of the season, but he is now averaging well over 30-minutes a game since taking over starting duties. The matchup is tasty as well, with Brooklyn ranking 24th in fantasy points allowed to point guards. Shockingly, there's also very little blowout potential, as the Lakers are a two-point favorite in this matchup.

Shooting Guard
Nicolas Batum, CHA vs. PHX ($6,200):
Batum has been struggling lately, but it's made his price extremely affordable. Out of all the shooting guards on the slate, there is not a better bet to record a triple-double. Batum has had numerous games this season where he has flirted with a triple-double and he could do that against a terrible Suns defense. In fact, Phoenix allows the fourth-most fantasy points to shooting guards on the season and rank in the bottom-three in total defense. The pace they play at should also open up the door for Batum to stuff the stat sheet yet again.

Wesley Matthews, DAL vs. ORL ($4,300): Matthews has been dreadful this season, but he's slowly turning things around. Not only has he scored at least 22 fantasy points in four-straight games, he's playing a ton of minutes. Orlando is a good matchup as well, as they rank 24th in fantasy points allowed to shooting guards over their last five games. The Magic actually allow 2.5 three-pointers per game and that ranks as one of the worst rates in the league. That's what Matthews thrives off of nowadays, as he's made himself into a spot-up shooter. If he can just give us some defensive statistics like he was known for in the past, he could obliterate his $4,300 price tag.

Small Forward
Carmelo Anthony, NYK vs. POR ($8,900):
The small forward position is downright ugly for this slate, so using a reliable Melo is a profitable decision. There is no small forward that is higher than $6,800 and that limits the upside from the position. Also, Anthony averages over 37 fantasy points a game, with no other small forward averaging more than 22 fantasy points a game. This is a case of getting ahead of the competition and getting the most points possible at a thin position. The matchup is not a scary one either, with the Blazers ranking as a mediocre defense.

Luol Deng, MIA vs. CHI ($6,000): Deng is a cheat code right now and he's become must-use for DFS. The reason for his recent success is the injury to Chris Bosh. Since that day, Deng is averaging close to 40 fantasy points a game across a six-game stretch. The key has been the rebounding, as Deng is averaging 11 rebounds a game since the injury. The Bulls have typically been a tough matchup in the past, but they have allowed at least 100 points in a franchise record 13-straight games. Players like Doug McDermott and Mike Dunleavy will be matched up against Deng and those are both favorable matchups for Deng.

Power Forward
Marvin Williams, CHA vs. PHX ($6,000):
Williams has been one of the most underrated players in fantasy basketball this season. He actually ranks in the top-40 in most fantasy leagues, which shocked me when I looked at it a few days ago. He's been especially hot lately, as he is averaging 14.1 points, 7.7 rebounds, 1.3 assists, 0.9 steals and 0.8 blocks a game across his last 19 games. That's just shy of 30 fantasy points a game, which is a bargain for a $6,000 player. The matchup is what is so enticing though, as the Suns are easily one of the worst defenses in the NBA.

Mirza Teletovic, PHX at CHA ($4,700): A myriad of injuries has opened up the door for Teletovic to be a fantastic fantasy option. Over his last five games, Teletovic is averaging 20 points, 7.2 rebounds, and 1.4 assists per game. Finding a player below $5,000 who is averaging 20 points a game is nearly impossible and it makes his upside worth taking a risk on. This could be a great matchup as well, with the Hornets having a terrible second-unit.

Center
Hassan Whiteside, MIA vs. CHI ($8,400):
Whiteside has been going bonkers lately and he's a must-use until he cools off. Since being suspended on February 19, Whiteside is averaging 18.8 points, 16.0 rebounds, 4.0 blocks and 1.0 steals per game. That's nearly 50 fantasy points a game, which is just absurd. The Bulls appear to be a tough defense on the surface, but they rank as one of the four-worst defenses based on fantasy points allowed to centers. With his recent form, Whiteside should be a five-figure player, so now's the time to use him until his price inevitably rises.
