Tuesday's six-game slate has a number of top-tier options in action, including DeMarcus Cousins, Kyle Lowry, Kawhi Leonard and Isaiah Thomas. We'll try to provide a solid array of appealing mid-tier selections and help you take advantage of a couple of underpriced values on the Celtics as well, leaving some room to fit in a stud or two.
GUARD
D'Angelo Russell, LAL vs. SAC ($25) - With several other appealing options available and a clunker of a performance in his most recent game, Russell could make for a nicely priced contrarian play Tuesday for tournaments. He draws a nice matchup with which to get back on track, as the Kings check in giving up the third-most fantasy points (46.72) and most assists (9.36) per game to opposing ones. Meanwhile, Russell's forgettable outing Sunday has to be kept in perspective, as the whole Lakers squad appeared out of synch and he only played 22 minutes. Russell had been between 38.3 and 53.7 fantasy points in five of his previous six games, giving him a ceiling that makes him hard to pass up at his modest price.
Evan Turner, BOS at IND ($21) - Turner doesn't have the easiest of matchups versus Paul George on Tuesday, but he figures to get a heaping helping of minutes with Jae Crowder (ankle) sidelined. Fortunately, Turner isn't overly scoring-dependent for his fantasy production, as he is one of the better multi-category contributors in the league in his role as a high-usage reserve. He'll now have a chance for starter's minutes at a nominal price point, giving him an opportunity to build on some recent solid performances. Turner was between 32.3 and 34.9 fantasy points in three of his last four while playing no more than 30 minutes in any of those games, and he should have ample opportunity to build on those outings Tuesday.
Guard to Avoid:
George Hill, IND vs. BOS ($20) - Hill is certainly priced reasonably enough, but he's not even a surefire bet to suit up Tuesday. He tried to battle through a sore toe against the Hawks on Sunday and struggled throughout, totaling only 13.8 fantasy points over 23 minutes and conceding afterwards that he hadn't felt comfortable. To top it off, he'll draw the stingiest defense against point guards if he does play, as the Celtics have given up a league-low 39.63 fantasy points per game to the position this season.
FORWARD
Bojan Bogdanovic, BKN vs. PHI ($13) - A host of appealing choices are available in the top tier at small forward for those with the cash to spend, but Bogdanovic is a highly viable option at near minimum price for those on a budget. The second-year forward has tallied 24 fantasy points in each of his last two outings, and between 20.9 and 32.4 in three others over the last six. All of those totals represent solid-to-outstanding returns on his price tag, and he'll draw a tantalizing matchup Tuesday to boot. The Sixers reside in the bottom half of the league in fantasy points (39.14), points (20.51), rebounds (8.18) and assists (3.58) per game given up to small forwards, and will once again be without Robert Covington (concussion).
Myles Turner, IND vs. BOS ($22) - Back-to-back games with single-digit fantasy point outputs earlier in March soured some on Turner, but he's bounced back nicely over the three games since. The rookie has tallied 25.5, 24.9 and 30.0 fantasy points over that span, yet remains priced below that level of production. He'll draw a matchup ripe for a similar output Tuesday, as the Celtics are notoriously vulnerable to opposing bigs. They surrender the most fantasy points (45.55), sixth-most points (21.72) and sixth-most rebounds (12.63) per game to power forwards on the season, rendering Turner a nice cost-saving pivot down from pricier and likely higher-owned options such as Aaron Gordon ($31), Thaddeus Young ($30) and Jabari Parker ($26).
Forward to Avoid:
Jeff Green, LAC at SA ($19) -Rudy Gay ($30) has been no picnic to roster the last two games, but could be in a nice bounce-back spot versus the Lakers. Therefore, Green gets the call as the forward to steer clear of Tuesday, despite his tempting price tag. He's been maddeningly inconsistent recently, with two single-digit fantasy point outings and another with a modest 18.1 in three of his last six games. He'll draw one of the least favorable matchups for a resurgence Tuesday, regardless of which of the two forward spots he plays. The Spurs check in as the stingiest unit versus small forwards in fantasy points allowed per game (33.83) and the fifth-best versus power forwards (39.99).
CENTER
Jared Sullinger, BOS at IND ($20) - Sullinger's price is stuck in neutral despite a 56.9-fantasy point outing versus the Rockets on Friday and a host of other productive performances over the last month and a half. His minutes in coach Brad Stevens' sometimes-unpredictable rotations have steadied, and he tallied between 22.7 and 47.2 fantasy points in the 16 games prior to Friday's breakout performance. Myles Turner has also proven to be a vulnerable defender down in the post in recent games, with Paul Millsap, Dirk Nowitzki and LaMarcus Aldridge all having productive performances against him.
Center to Avoid
Greg Monroe, TOR at MIL ($28) - Monroe has worked his way back into the starting lineup, yet continues to produce slightly below his price level on most nights. Miles Plumlee ($10) has proven to be a viable option off the bench, meaning that Monroe's minutes have not really seen any appreciable bump despite his spot in the first unit. He's received no higher than 30 minutes in his last five, and has posted under 30 fantasy points in three of those games. A matchup versus the Raptors defense is not exactly an elixir for lackluster fantasy production either, making Monroe overpriced on Tuesday.
