Yahoo DFS Basketball: Tuesday Picks

This article is part of our Yahoo DFS Basketball series.

After only one game Monday due to the NCAA championship game, the NBA returns with a massive 11-game Tuesday slate. With plenty of choices all across the pricing scale, here's a breakdown of how best the dollars might be spent:

GUARD

Stephen Curry, GS vs. MIN ($49): For those looking for elite upside at a discount over Russell Westbrook ($64), Curry is your man. He's scored over 50 fantasy points twice and over 60 two other times during the last six games, and the matchup against the Timberwolves should be high paced. Minnesota allows 47.8 fantasy points per game to point guards, and Curry has averaged 27.3 points, 7.3 assists, 6.0 rebounds and 1.3 steals per game in three starts against the Timberwolves this season.

Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot, PHI vs. BKN ($10):Rajon Rondo ($23) is priced very reasonably based on recent production, so he serves as a nice option for those who can pay up. Meanwhile, Luwawu-Cabarrot is a steal at the minimum price, considering he's scored between 25.3 and 35.3 fantasy points over his last four games. The rookie is seeing heavy minutes as the starting two-guard and faces a Nets squad that's surrendered the sixth-most fantasy points per game (44.6) to shooting guards, along with the third-most points (22.6), second-most rebounds (6.0) and most steals (1.9) this season.

Guard to Avoid

Kemba Walker, CHA at WAS ($41): Walker certainly isn't your typical avoid candidate but his price and matchup don't lend themselves to maximizing a return. He's averaged a modest 18.0 points, 6.7 assists and 3.3 rebounds in 35 minutes per game in three appearances against Washington this season, shooting only 33.3 percent from the field. Additionally, the Wizards have allowed the fifth-fewest fantasy points per game (46.2) to point guards and are tied with the Heat for the fourth-lowest field-goal percentage allowed (41.4) to the position.

FORWARD

Paul George, IND vs. TOR ($42): George, who offers a nice cost savings over the top-tier options, exploded for 75.3 fantasy points in Sunday's double-overtime thriller against the Cavs and also scored between 42.1 and 57.4 fantasy points in five of the prior seven games. He averaged a solid 23.0 points (on 47.2 percent shooting), 6.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game in two starts against the Raptors this season, and is sporting a 32.8 percent usage rate over the last 10 games.

Frank Kaminsky, CHA at WAS ($22): Teammate Marvin Williams ($24) is also in a good spot, but Kaminsky is just as good a play against a Wizards defense that gives up the fifth-most fantasy points per game (47.3) to power forwards, including the sixth-most (50.9) over the last five. They also rank in the bottom five or 10 in multiple other categories against the position, including three-pointers (1.8 per game), which could hurt them against the floor-spacing Kaminsky. The rangy big man has scored over 20 fantasy points six times and over 30 in another three over the last 10, making him safe for cash games and tournaments.

Forward to Avoid

Otto Porter, WAS vs. CHA ($25): Porter has dipped under 20 fantasy points in five of his last eight games, making him a risky play at his price, even against a team that's struggled against small forwards. With the likes of Marvin Williams ($24), Harrison Barnes ($24), Frank Kaminsky ($22) and Nikola Mirotic ($17) cheaper and in better matchups, Porter can be avoided.

CENTER

DeMarcus Cousins, NO vs. DEN ($51): Cousins takes on a Nuggets squad that he steamrolled for 31 points in 34 minutes in his one prior matchup this season, and they've given up the eighth-most fantasy points per game (48.2) to power forwards over the last 10 games. Cousins has been on an absolute tear, scoring between 48.1 and 74.9 fantasy points over the last five contests, with the low end of that range representing the only game in the sample in which he didn't clear 50.0.

Jonas Valanciunas, TOR at IND ($16): Valanciunas averaged 13.5 points, 15.0 rebounds and 1.5 blocks per game in two appearances against the Pacers this season, including last Friday when he had 41.9 fantasy points on the strength of a 16-point, 17-rebound double-double. The Raptors' big man has scored between 29.8 and 41.9 fantasy points over the last four games, and the Pacers have surrendered the third-most fantasy points per game (56.3) over the last 10 and last five (56.2) to centers, along with the third-most rebounds (16.0) this season.

Center to Avoid

Nerlens Noel, DAL at SAC ($18): Noel's production continues to be hard to trust, as he's scored fewer than 20 fantasy points in three of his last five. He certainly has the upside for better returns, but the likes of Enes Kanter ($17), Pau Gasol ($17) and Tristan Thompson ($14) are all cheaper and with just as much, if not more, potential.
