DraftKings NHL: Next Week's Value Plays

This article is part of our DraftKings NHL series.

A couple of last week's DraftKings picks did pretty well – Brett Connolly is still on a solid run with four goals and three helpers over his past eight games, and Brent Seabrook now owns a seven-game point streak with three goals and seven assists. And although they got a weak showing from Kari Lehtonen in Monday's loss, the Stars won their other two games – but they did allow three goals in each.

On the downside, Sam Reinhart and Ben Hutton each found the scoresheet last week, too, but they were rather underwhelming overall.

Here are your value targets over the next week at DraftKings.

Forwards

Teuvo Teravainen, W, CHI ($4,000)

Much was expected from Teravainen entering the season. He excelled in the playoffs last spring, returning 10 points -- four goals -- through 18 games during the dance. This year kicked off with him riding shotgun alongside Jonathan Toews and Marian Hossa, but he quickly found himself centering the third line, and his production halted -- he scored a single goal and averaged just 13:08 minutes of ice time from Oct. 7 to Oct. 30. Now, though Teravainen is skating with Patrick Kane and Artem Anisimov, and the young Finn has two goals and a helper over his past two games. Teravainen played 19:58 in his last outing.

While it is a small sample size, Teravainen and Kane have clicked to the tune of 5.44 goals per 60 minutes and a 55.7 CorsiFor percentage in

Alex Killorn, W, TAM ($3,800)

The winger looks locked in with Tyler Johnson and Nikita Kucherov at even strength for the time being, and a top-six role with two highly talented offensive players bodes well for Killorn moving forward.

Over the past two games, Killorn has four high-danger scoring chances and an assist. And while he doesn't project to see a lot of power-play time, the cap hit opens plenty of wiggle room and provides a cheap stack with scorching-hot Kucherov or Johnson.

Tampa Bay also has a soft upcoming schedule after a tough road game against Minnesota Saturday -- Buffalo, Calgary and a home-and-home series with Florida.

Beware:

Leon Draisaitl, C, EDM ($2,700)

Everything is going right for Draisaitl through his first three games this season, and his price tag screams profit potential. Still, the secret is out, and he projects to carry hefty ownership percentages in most contests the next few nights Edmonton plays.

That isn't a significant worry in your cash games, and given the relationship between his production (three goals, four assists and 10 shots) and his salary, it might not be hugely concerning to roster him in tournaments, either. However, Edmonton lines up with Pittsburgh, Chicago, Anaheim, Arizona and Los Angeles in the next five games, and none of those (except perhaps Arizona) should be considered cushy matchups.

Additionally, his 114.8 PDO is eyeing a steep decline. As always, it is better to be ahead of chalk plays rather than chasing them in the daily racket, so Draisaitl isn't the must-start option that he has been the past two games.

Defensemen

Colin Miller, BOS ($2,800)

With a goal and four assists over the course of a five-game point streak, Miller is proving to be a difference-maker for the Boston blue line. He also has 12 shots on goal and four blocked shots during that span. His ice time is inconsistent, though, and he isn't seeing huge power-play minutes (1:19 per game).

Still, he has three power-play assists, and the Bruins don't have a daunting upcoming schedule to finish their week after facing Montreal on Saturday – they get the Islanders, Avalanche and Red Wings.

Miller is also starting 61.8 percent of his shifts in the offensive zone, and he owns a 54.4 CorsiFor percentage for the season. Boston is finding the back of the net frequently, and Miller is taking part in the fun.

David Savard, CLM ($3,300)

This will be short and sweet.

Savard is being leaned on heavily by head coach John Tortorella, and the rearguard has played more than 24 minutes in each of the past six games. During that span, Savard has four assists, 14 shots and 14 blocked shots.

Finding a high-floor option at a discount is difficult, but Savard tips the scales across all fantasy categories, especially as the quarterback of the No. 1 power-play unit.

Goaltender

Frederik Andersen, ANA ($7,000)

Andersen has now won consecutive starts, rewarding what's been a season of solid play. To date, he has a .934 save percentage and a 2.03 GAA, but the goal support hasn't been there. Anaheim sits at 3-7-2 and is in a dire need of a winning streak.

Ryan Getzlaf is expected to return to the lineup Saturday against San Jose, and the Blue Jackets visit Anaheim on Friday. While these two matchups aren't especially target-worthy, the Ducks host the Coyotes on Monday and the Oilers on Wednesday.

Arizona and Edmonton were the two worst teams in the league last season, and the Ducks were one win from the Stanley Cup Finals. What happens during the weekend matters and things could change, but as it stands now, Andersen presents exceptional value for those must-win home games Monday and Wednesday.
