NHL Waiver Wire: Picks of the Week

This article is part of our NHL Waiver Wire series.

It's an interesting week schedule-wise in the NHL. Eight teams have four games, but the Flames, Oilers, Flyers and Jets all have only two contests this week. You'll want to take a long look at whether it's viable to carry fringe players from those teams in weekly settings.

The fantasy landscape didn't have too many major shuffles, and there likely isn't reason to dish out too much of your FAAB dollars. However, the four skaters below are all potential upgrades, and Mike Condon is receiving enough volume to warrant starts against favorable opponents.

Remember to double-check the availability of players previously covered in this space and check the recommended adds in the our Daily Puck articles throughout the week.

Robby Fabbri, F, STL (Yahoo: %, ESPN: %, CBS: %): Playing more regularly with Vladimir Tarasenko of late, Fabbri has four goals, seven points and 15 shots on goal over his past six games. The Tarasenko-Fabbri duo has also combined for 3.25 goals per 60 minutes at five-on-five this year, and remember, Fabbri finished 2015-16 with 17 goals and 43 points over his final 64 games, including the playoffs.

Jakob Silfverberg, F, ANA (Yahoo: %, ESPN: %, CBS: %): Poised for a career year and in the heart of his offensive prime, Silfverberg is averaging 2.82 shots per game and has 16 points -- six goals -- over his past 17 outings. It's impressive production, and the 26-year-old winger is locked into a top-six role and skates with the No. 2 power-play unit. Additionally, Silfverberg has never finished a season with a minus rating and currently owns a plus-9 mark.

Jason Zucker, F, MIN (Yahoo: %, ESPN: %, CBS: %): It's been a nice run for the 24-year-old winger, as Zucker has hit stride in a top-six role with three goals, eight points and 17 shots over his past eight games. His 2.84 points per 60 minutes at five-on-five rank sixth in the league among skaters with at least 300 minutes to highlight his efficiency. His value might not extend through the end of the year, but Zucker is currently moving the offensive needle.

Jared Spurgeon, D, MIN (Yahoo: %, ESPN: %, CBS: %): A retread from last week, Spurgeon continues to log big minutes and pound the peripheral categories. His offense has been a little underwhelming with just nine points, but he has a plus-12 rating with 46 shots and 51 blocked shots through 22 games. Averaging 23:37 of ice per night with 2:27 on the power play also helps.

Mike Condon, G, OTT (Yahoo: %, ESPN: %, CBS: %): Already with four starts and five appearances in December, Condon has seen an uptick in volume of late. He's fared well with two wins, a .921 save percentage and a 2.18 GAA, too. The Senators are currently allowing the ninth fewest high-danger scoring chances per 60 minutes (10.21), making Condon trustworthy in favorable matchups going forward.
