DraftKings MLB: Wednesday Picks

DraftKings MLB: Wednesday Picks

This article is part of our DraftKings MLB series.

PITCHER

Felix Hernandez, SEA at SD ($11,000): Hernandez hasn't been the pitcher we're accustomed to seeing, as a career-low swinging strike rate has resulted in a K rate below 20 percent. Even a diminished Hernandez should have plenty of weapons for the Padres, however, as they are the worst team in the league against righties, and strike out more than 24 percent of the time.

Michael Fulmer, DET at LAA ($7,500): Fulmer has been using his big fastball to blow away hitters during his first season in the major leagues, as he has struck out at least six batters in four of his six starts. He has been somewhat homer-prone, but he has a good chance of keeping the ball in the yard against the Angels, who have the sixth-lowest ISO against right-handed pitchers.

CATCHER

Wilson Ramos, WAS at PHI ($4,000): Mediocre lefties abound in the evening slate, but Adam Morgan may be the most stackable of the bunch. Right-handed batters have hit the 26-year-old hard over 23 innings this season, resulting in a .369 wOBA and 19 runs over that span. Meanwhile, Ramos has shown tremendous power against southpaws, notching a .300 ISO in 30 at-bats.

FIRST BASE

Steve Pearce, TB at KC ($3,700): Pearce should be employed at every opportunity when facing a lefty, as he has a .542 wOBA over 42 at-bats. Opposing starter Danny Duffy has thrown the ball well in his four starts this season, but he likely isn't stretched out completely after coming out of the bullpen, as he has yet to throw more than 76 pitches in a start.

SECOND BASE

Sean Rodriguez, PIT at MIA ($2,900): Limited playing time has kept his price depressed, but Rodriguez has smashed both sides of the platoon this season, resulting in a .417 wOBA in 77 at-bats. Adam Conley has actually performed better against righties this year, but he has an 11 percent walk rate against his opposite hand over 42 frames.

THIRD BASE

Nolan Arenado, COL vs. CIN ($4,500): Arenado and the Rockies should have a field day against lefty John Lamb, who enters with a 6.85 ERA with a 14:12 K:BB ratio in 23.2 innings. Arenado has been particularly sharp against left-handed pitchers this year, posting a 1.032 OPS in 24 games.

SHORTSTOP

Zack Cozart, CIN at COL ($3,700):Tyler Chatwood has been head-and-shoulders above the rest of the Rockies' rotation, but his walk and home run rates increase dramatically against same-handed hitters. Meanwhile, Cozart has tallied a hard contact rate over 33 percent and a .187 ISO against righties this season.

OUTFIELD

Evan Gattis, HOU vs. ARI ($3,500): Gattis has struggled against righties this year, but the Astros will likely do all they can to get his bat in the lineup against southpaw Robbie Ray, as he has kept a .250 ISO over 40 at-bats. Ray has struggled against righties this season, surrendering seven homers in just 36.2 innings.

Nelson Cruz, SEA at SD ($4,800):Christian Friedrich has one of the more ridiculous-looking stat lines in baseball this season, as he holds a 1.65 ERA and 5.18 xFIP in three starts. We would expect that regression to come against righties, as Friedrich has walked the same number of batters (10) he has struck out in 14.1 innings. Cruz's .328 ISO against lefties should help facilitate the correction.

Brandon Guyer, TB at KC ($4,300): Guyer has become a bit overexposed as an everyday player, but he still boasts a robust .367/.475/.612 batting line against left-handed pitching. Guyer is one of several righties who will try to crack Duffy's 4.37 xFIP.

Other options: Adam Duvall, CIN at COL ($4,700); Starling Marte, PIT at MIA (4,600); Michael Saunders, TOR vs. NYY ($3,400)
