FanDuel MLB: Saturday Value Plays

This article is part of our FanDuel MLB series.

PITCHER

Carlos Martinez, STL at MIL ($8,900): With just eight runs allowed through 49.1 innings (1.46 ERA) over his past seven outings, Martinez has cruised into high-end form with just a lack of punchouts holding him back from elite status (38 during the span). Milwaukee owns a league-high 25.9 strikeout percentage against right-handed arms though, and Martinez has held opposing batters to a 548 OPS during his dominant seven-game stretch.

CATCHER

Yasmani Grandal, LAD vs. SD ($2,900): After a 5-for-5 showing with three home runs Friday, the streaky backstop could be worth a low-priced flier Saturday. Luis Perdomo has allowed a .370 wOBA to right-handed batters and Grandal owns a solid .210 ISO and respectable .329 wOBA against right-handed hurlers dating back to last season.

FIRST BASE

A.J. Reed, HOU vs. OAK ($2,700): The highly regarded prospect has yet to break out since being promoted, but he posted a .535 slugging percentage against right-handed arms in the minors this season and carries a low cap hit. Kendall Graveman has served up a .343 wOBA to left-handed hitters over the past two seasons too, so this projects to be a nice fit.

SECOND BASE

Rougned Odor, TEX at MIN ($2,900): This is a nice price at which to target Odor. He's posted a .219 ISO against right-handed hurlers dating back to last season that's fuelled by a 30.9 hard-hit percentage. And since losing his way during the 2014 campaign, Ricky Nolasco has surrendered a .486 slugging and .363 wOBA to left-handed hitters.

THIRD BASE

Justin Turner, LAD vs. SD ($2,900): The reverse splits are excellent for Turner, as he has posted a .379 wOBA and 145 wRC+ against righties since the beginning of the 2014 season. He's also heating up with nine bombs, 24 RBI and a .428 wOBA over the past 30 days. It's a plus matchup with Perdomo owning a 6.75 ERA through his six starts this season.

SHORTSTOP

Xander Bogaerts, BOS vs. TB ($3,600): While this isn't a screaming discount, Bogaerts owns a .389 wOBA and 144 wRC+ against left-handed arms since last year and hits in the heart of the highest-scoring offense in the league. Matt Moore stymied the Red Sox in Tampa on June 29, but expect things to go a little differently in Fenway Park on Saturday given Moore's 6.43 road ERA.

OUTFIELD

Randal Grichuk, STL at MIL ($2,900): With a 6-for-12 run that includes a double and a home run since returning from the minors, Grichuk's demotion appears to have kick-started a hot stretch now that he's back in the majors. Even with his early-season struggles, Grichuk owns a .262 ISO, .361 wOBA and 129 wRC+ against righty arms since last season. Chase Anderson has also allowed a .360 wOBA to right-handed hitters during his career.

Jason Heyward, CHC at PIT ($2,700): The struggling outfielder is riding a 14-for-46 run over his past 12 games including going 7-for-18 since moving to the six-hole. He also owns a respectable 28.9 hard-hit percentage and a .335 wOBA against right-handed arms since 2015.

Yasiel Puig, LAD vs. SD ($2,300): Since returning from the disabled list June 21, Puig owns a .327/.406/.491 slash line with a .397 wOBA, a 34.0 hard-hit percentage and 146 wRC+. Simply put, he's found a groove and is underpriced at near-minimum salary. And, as noted, the matchup against Perdomo is ripe.
