DraftKings MLB: Wednesday Picks

This article is part of our DraftKings MLB series.

PITCHER

Hisashi Iwakuma, SEA at LAA ($7,100): Iwakuma has picked up the pace after a slow start to the season, having logged a 3.28 ERA over his last 49.1 innings (eight starts). The Angels are a middle-of-the-pack team against right-handed pitchers, according to wOBA, but sport the eighth-lowest ISO against them in the league (.147).

Junior Guerra, MIL at CIN ($6,300): Value plays at pitcher are a bit hard to come by in the main slate, but those who aren't interested in paying up for Jose Fernandez might want to take a look at Guerra, who has a 2.96 ERA this season. Guerra is still knocking off the rust after returning from the disabled list, but he should be able to use his splitter to keep the Reds in check, as they are a bottom-5 team against the pitch, according to runs above average.

CATCHER

Evan Gattis, HOU vs. TEX ($3,300): There were talks of moving Derek Holland to the bullpen after his last start, but he will take at least one more turn as the Rangers attempt to align their rotation for the playoffs. Holland has a 5.64 xFIP against right-handed hitters this season, while Gattis has notched a hefty .280 ISO versus southpaws.

FIRST BASE

Miguel Cabrera, DET vs. MIN ($5,300): We have precious little time left to exploit Tyler Duffey, who comes in having allowed a .612 slugging percentage against righties over 58.2 innings. It goes without saying that this is great news for Miggy, who has tallied a .238 ISO against same-handed hurlers over 395 at-bats.

SECOND BASE

Robinson Cano, SEA at LAA ($3,900):Tyler Skaggs was scratched from his scheduled start due to a forearm issue, allowing Jhoulys Chacin to make his 19th start of the season in his absence. Chacin was initially moved into the starting rotation following his acquisition in May, but he was exiled to the bullpen after a stretch when he allowed a staggering 23 earned runs in 21.2 innings; his ERA currently sits at 5.69. Cano has hammered righties to the tune of a .251 ISO and a .392 wOBA in 128 games this season.

THIRD BASE

Kyle Seager, SEA at LAA ($4,000): All the wonderful advantages talked about with Cano apply to Seager, but the 28-year-old has an extra edge, as he will bring a 42 percent fly ball rate against Chacin's ground ball heavy profile.

SHORTSTOP

Jonathan Villar, MIL at CIN ($4,800): Opposing starter Tim Adleman hasn't been able to keep lefties in the yard, as evidenced by his 2.7 HR/9 rate over 20 innings. Villar has shown the majority of his power against lefties, but he has kept a .344 wOBA against his opposite hand.

OUTFIELD

Kendrys Morales, KC vs. OAK ($5,200): The switch-hitting Morales has ISOs above .200 from both sides of the plate, but he gets a slight bump in overall performance when facing lefties, as his .361 wOBA is more than 30 points better than his mark against right-handed pitchers. Sean Manaea has yet to make a start this month while recovering from a back injury, but he has a 4.47 xFIP and a 1.5 HR/9 rate against his opposite hand.

Brandon Guyer, CLE at CWS ($3,100):Carlos Rodon has been on a nice run of late, but the 23-year-old still sees his skills diminish against righties, as his walk rate jumps more than five percent, and his HR/9 rate swells to 1.4/9. Guyer is an automatic value play at this price due to the .236 ISO and .435 wOBA he boasts against lefties.

Max Kepler, MIN at DET ($4,300): Kepler has struggled against lefties this year, but has had no issues against righties, having tallied a .240 ISO over 87 games. Anibal Sanchez has had issues with batters from both sides of the plate when it comes to allowing homers, and he has a 4.63 xFIP against lefties.

Other options: J.D. Martinez, DET vs. MIN ($4,500); Carlos Gonzalez, COL at ARI ($4,600) ;Carlos Beltran, TEX at HOU ($4,200)
