PITCHER
Madison Bumgarner, SF vs. COL ($12,500): In a smaller player pool, it can be even more advantageous to spend up for an elite arm, and Bumgarner certainly fits the bill. He's posted a 3.04 FIP and 27.5 strikeout percentage dating back to the 2015 campaign. Additionally, with Colorado sporting a .302 wOBA away from Coors Field dating back to last season, the matchup checks out, too.
Robert Gsellman, NYM at MIA ($7,000): The 23-year-old righty has looked the part early in his career with an encouraging 2.73 FIP, 52.9 ground-ball rate and 23.5 strikeout percentage through his first 50 2/3 innings. At this salary, he's well within flier territory against a mediocre Miami lineup that's posted a .310 wOBA against right-handed arms dating back to last season.
CATCHER
Josh Phegley, OAK at KC ($3,200): In an underwhelming catcher pool, Phegley has had modest success against left-handed hurlers in the past (.327 wOBA since 2015 campaign) and aligns with a couple other Athletics in a cost-effective stack. Jason Vargas has pitched just 61 innings dating back to 2015, so Oakland has some potential.
FIRST BASE
Eric Thames, MIL at CIN ($4,000): With an intriguing power-speed combo, Thames offers plenty of upside at a reasonable salary. Bronson Arroyo has pitched just 90 innings dating back to the 2014 campaign and sports a 4.58 FIP during that stretch with a measly -- and unsustainably low -- .238 BABIP. With a 61.5 hard-hit percentage this season, Thames is showing no signs of struggling to square up pitches, either.
SECOND BASE
Brad Miller, TB at NYY ($4,100): Locked into the cleanup spot against right-handed arms, Miller is worth a long look with Yankee Stadium's short porch in right field. After all, Miller posted a .263 ISO and .342 wOBA against righties last year, and Luis Severino has allowed fewer than three runs in just two of his past 12 starts.
THIRD BASE
Manny Machado, BAL at TOR ($4,700): With a .919 OPS and .388 wOBA against southpaws last year, Machado is a solid target at the launching pad known as Rogers Center. Considering the shallow player pool, this is a manageable salary, and Francisco Liriano has allowed a .346 wOBA and 35.3 hard-hit percentage to right-handed hitters dating back to last season.
SHORTSTOP
Marcus Semien, OAK at KC ($3,600): Recently moved to the lead-off spot, Semien's an attractive option at his salary. He posted a .358 wOBA against lefties last season and has the potential to add fantasy points with his legs, as the shortstop has already swiped four bags this year.
OUTFIELD
Khris Davis, OAK at KC ($4,100): A potentially high-risk, high-reward investment, Davis boasts light-tower power and sports a .279 ISO and .369 wOBA against lefties dating back to last season. With a potentially soft matchup against Jason Vargas, Davis' salary isn't prohibitive enough to exclude him from an Oakland stack.
Jacoby Ellsbury, NYY vs. TB ($3,900): It's encouraging to see Ellsbury sporting a 36.8 hard-hit percentage and .346 wOBA against right-handed pitchers this season, and the veteran has also flashed his speed with a pair of stolen bases. Additionally, while he's bounced around the lineup, Ellsbury hasn't dropped from the heart of the order, and the Yankees have scored 32 runs through their past five games. They're all small sample sizes, but Ellsbury's been an elite hitter when healthy in the past.
Corey Dickerson, TB at NYY ($3,700): As noted, Luis Severino has struggled to find his 2015 form, and hitting in the heart of the lineup makes Dickerson a solid stacking option alongside Brad Miller. Dickerson's salary doesn't break the bank, and he's posted a .353 wOBA against right-handed hurlers since the 2015 season.
