DraftKings MLB: Sunday Picks

This article is part of our DraftKings MLB series.

PITCHER

Chris Sale, BOS at BAL ($12,800): A rare flub in his last outing has placed Sale back below the $13,000 mark against the Orioles, who have struck out against left-handers 25 percent of the time this season. Sale should be able to take control of Baltimore early, as they are a bottom-3 team against the changeup, a pitch the southpaw throws nearly a quarter of the time.

Justin Verlander, DET vs. CWS ($9,600): The White Sox have done enough to stay just above the bottom 10 teams on the road according to wOBA, but they are still one of the worst in the league when it comes to RAA against the fastball. Verlander is closing in on 6.0 RAA with his heater, and has pitched to a 1.61 ERA over 28 innings at Comerica Park.

CATCHER

Chris Iannetta, ARI at MIA ($3,000): Iannetta hasn't swung the bat well against righties this season, but he has shown some power, as evidenced by his .255 ISO over 55 at-bats. While strikeouts are generally a problem for Iannetta, he shouldn't have much to worry about with Vance Worley, who has managed just a five percent swinging-strike rate over three games (two starts) this year.

FIRST BASE

Joey Votto, CIN vs. ATL ($5,100):Julio Teheran has walked more lefties than he has struck out this season, which has led to an xFIP of 6.62 over 32 innings. Votto has secured a double-digit RAA against the fastball, while Teheran has returned a negative value with the pitch.

SECOND BASE

Cesar Hernandez, PHI vs. SF ($3,100):Matt Moore has notched a minus-7.0 RAA with the fastball this season, while allowing a hard contact rate over 35 percent against his opposite hand. Meanwhile, Hernandez has shown a fair amount of power when hitting against southpaws, tallying a .164 ISO over 67 at-bats.

THIRD BASE

Mike Moustakas, KC vs. CLE ($4,100):Trevor Bauer carved out a gem in his last outing, but he seems to have more in common with Masahiro Tanaka than Zack Greinke, as he has been blasted by lefties to the tune of a .561 slugging percentage in 25.2 innings. Moustakas should be able to use Bauer's ability to get the ground ball against him, as he has hit the ball in the air at a 46 percent clip this year.

SHORTSTOP

Dansby Swanson, ATL at CIN ($3,200):Amir Garrett has fallen a long way since his early-season dominance, and he now has a .532 slugging percentage against right-handed hitters over 37.1 innings. Swanson is hitting just .194 overall, but he has really sunk his teeth into lefties in 25 at-bats, notching a .320 ISO over that span. Garrett will be making his first start since being placed on the 10-day disabled list with a hip injury at the end of May.

OUTFIELD

Marcell Ozuna, MIA vs. ARI ($4,400):Braden Shipley didn't fair well in his first taste of big league action last season, and he is off to a similarly poor start in 2017, having allowed three runs in four innings. Ozuna has shown solid power against same-handed pitchers, registering a .264 ISO over 174 at-bats.

Cody Bellinger, LAD at MIL ($4,800): All four of Zach Davies' pitches have produced a negative run value according to RAA, and he has allowed a .496 slugging percentage to left-handed hitters this season. Bellinger has hit the ball in the air 50 percent of the time, while Davies has gotten grounders at a 46 percent clip.

Mookie Betts, BOS at BAL ($4,900):Chris Tillman has produced a minus-6.6 RAA with his fastball this season, while allowing a 35 percent hard contact rate to right-handed hitters. Meanwhile, Betts has kept an 11.0 RAA against the fastball to go along with a .200 ISO against right-handed pitching.
