FanDuel NBA: Sunday Value Plays

FanDuel NBA: Sunday Value Plays

This article is part of our FanDuel NBA series.

There are four contests on tap for Sunday, all of which start at 6:00 p.m. or later, similar to what we see during a smaller Thursday slate. A short slate means lots of overlapping players, so value plays count. Let's find some.

Point Guard
Darren Collison, SAC vs. POR ($5,200):
Collison has been playing a lot next to starter Rajon Rondo, averaging 33 minutes per game in the two since Rondo returned from suspension. In those games, Collison averaged 18.5 points, 6.5 assists and 3.5 boards on his way to 32 fantasy points per contest.

Mike Conley, MEM vs. LAL ($6,400): Conley is priced as a borderline starter, but in his last four he has averaged 35.5 fantasy points per game, which would place him more as an impact guy. On Sunday he faces a Lakers defense that is awful at limiting opposing point guards, giving him a shot at a larger than usual output.

Shooting Guard
Will Barton, DEN at OKC ($6,700):
Barton defaults as the best offensive option on the Nuggets right now, even if he comes off the bench. He is averaging 22.5 points per game over the last four, which translates to 38.1 fantasy points per game. Danilo Gallinari is questionable with an ankle injury that has kept him out several games, and if he sits again, then the entire offense will funnel through Barton.

C.J. McCollum, POR at SAC ($7,500) and/or Allen Crabbe, POR at SAC ($4,300): McCollum (five straight games over 30 fantasy points) and Crabbe (31.1 fantasy points Saturday) have both been producing big numbers for the Trail Blazers with Damian Lillard out, but both have upside to produce on Sunday even if Lillard plays. The Kings are last in the NBA at defending opposing shooting guards, and both McCollum and Crabbe should be locked in and productive when on the court.

Small Forward
Matt Barnes, MEM vs. LAL ($5,300):
: Barnes is one of several small forwards in the low-$5,000s who have an expected value in the mid-20s of fantasy points with an upside over 30. Barnes is coming off two relatively quiet games, but he had averaged 32.2 fantasy points per game in the three contests before that. On Sunday he faces the Lakers, who have the second-worst defense in the NBA.

Power Forward
Kristaps Porzingis, NYK at BOS ($6,300):
Porzingis is lightening right now, flashing bright and disappearing so quickly that it's hard to predict him. He is coming off of a clunker (12.9 fantasy points) against a beatable Hawks frontline, but the game before that he dropped 47.6 fantasy points on an excellent Cavaliers defense. On Sunday he has another good matchup, on paper, against an undersized Celtics frontline that is 22nd in the NBA at defending opposing power forwards.

Center
Mason Plumlee, POR at SAC ($5,300):
Plumlee has grabbed double-digit boards in six of his last seven games, and he's averaging 32.4 fantasy points over his last three. On Sunday he faces a Kings defense that is below average at limiting opposing centers, giving him a good chance to at least match his recent production.
