Yahoo DFS Basketball: Monday Picks

This article is part of our Yahoo DFS Basketball series.

The Warriors have had a tough time lately. They suffered their worst loss of the season Friday against the Trail Blazers and nearly dropped a second game Saturday versus the Clippers. With Golden State in the middle of a seven-game road trip and perhaps a bit vulnerable, games like Celtics-Timberwolves and Lakers-Bucks should be better sources of fantasy points.

Guard

Isaiah Thomas, BOS at MIN ($38) - Thomas has been one of the most consistent guards of late, entering Monday with 30 or more fantasy points in seven of his last eight games. He also has a favorable matchup against the Timberwolves, who are allowing point guards to contribute 46.01 FPts per game. The Celtics are only favored by 4.5 points and the over/under is at a solid 215. A tight, high-scoring game is ideal for Thomas.

Kyle Korver, ATL vs. GSW ($14) - Korver is a bit risky, but his salary makes up for that enough to warrant some consideration, especially with Monday's game likely to be high-scoring. He's finally put the shooting slump behind him, draining 14 of his 27 shots from beyond the arc over the past five games. The Hawks may have lost three of their past four contests, but they've averaged 111 points per game during that stretch and Korver is a big reason why.

Guard to Avoid

Ricky Rubio, MIN vs. BOS ($27) - There were a lot of rumors prior to the trade deadline that Rubio was going to be dealt, which has to hurt his ego a bit. Theories aside, Rubio is coming off two dreadful offensive performances and the Celtics present a terrible matchup. Boston entered Sunday allowing the fewest fantasy points to opposing point guards in Yahoo DFS. The Celtics are especially good at limiting assists, which is where Rubio makes his money.

Forward

Luol Deng, MIA vs. IND ($16) - If you're playing cash games, Deng will be a trendy pick considering his last two box scores. He posted back-to-back double-doubles and scored nearly 100 fantasy points in two games. A big part of Deng's boost in production is the health of SG Dwyane Wade, who has missed the past two games with a knee injury. If Wade sits again, Deng will likely get more touches and will almost certainly hit value.

Jabari Parker, MIL vs. LAL ($18) - Parker is another cheap buy that will play well for cash games. He's coming off two of the best performances of his career and the Bucks get a cupcake matchup against the Lakers, who will be playing their third game in four nights. Parker has really benefitted from the Bucks' short bench and it won't take much to reach salary value.

Forward to Avoid

Gorgui Dieng, MIN vs. BOS ($24) - Monday might be the perfect day to jump off the Dieng bandwagon. He played just 25 minutes in Saturday's loss to the Knicks as the T-Wolves offense struggled to get things going. The Celtics -- surprisingly enough -- have one of the most efficient defenses in the league (3rd to be exact) and should give Minnesota a tough time. Dieng was on fire, but expect him to take a little while to get his traction back.

Center

Tristan Thompson, CLE vs. DET ($18) - Game after game, Thompson posts double-digit rebounding and game after game his salary remains way too cheap. He's also beginning to find his offense, having posted 14 or more points in three straight games, all of which included a double-double. The Pistons have been miserable against opposing centers this season, allowing 49.6 fantasy points per game. Thompson is a great center to save money on while surrounding him with high-priced guards in your lineup.

Center to Avoid

Andre Drummond, DET at CLE ($42) - With only seven games set for Monday, there aren't many options at center. This will likely increase the use of studs like Drummond and Karl-Anthony Towns, which decreases their value tremendously. Drummond also has the worst matchup of the night, with his team a heavy underdog in a road contest against the slow-paced Cavaliers. He may be good for at least 30 fantasy points, but that doesn't help you when you spend almost a quarter of your salary on one player.
