Yahoo DFS Basketball: Sunday Picks

This article is part of our Yahoo DFS Basketball series.

There are seven games on tap Sunday, two with early tip-offs. The plenty of talent available, it's imperative to find value.

GUARD

Damian Lillard, POR at IND ($48) - There may not be a better point guard since the All-Star break than Damian Lillard. Since Feb. 4, Lillard is averaging 31.3 points, 7.3 assists, 3.5 rebounds and 1.9 steals per game. Those are MVP-caliber numbers, and it's just impossible to fade him. He faces an Indiana defense that has allowed the sixth-most fantasy points to point guards in its last five games. Much of that has to do with the Pacers' fast pace -- another reason Lillard can feast.

Dennis Schroder, ATL vs. CHA ($13) -
Despite being the backup point guard, Schroder has put up some gaudy numbers recently. Not only has he scored at least 28 fantasy points in four of his last five, Schroder is averaging more than 30 fantasy points a game in that span. The Hornets also have a very weak second-unit that Schroder could destroy when the backups are in the game. The price makes him enticing, as well, as his near minimum cost is not indicative of how good he has been.

Guard to Avoid:

Bradley Beal, WSH vs. CLE ($28) - It's been a disappointing season for Beal and it's hard to imagine it getting any better against the Cavaliers. Not only does Cleveland rank as the sixth-best defense against shooting guards, it ranks in the top four in three-pointers allowed and points allowed to shooting guards. Those are the statistics that Beal thrives on, and he may struggle to find his stroke here. He hasn't surpassed 24 fantasy points in five straight games, averaging just 20 fantasy points a game in that span.

FORWARD

Myles Turner, IND vs. POR ($22) - Turner won't win Rookie of the Year, but he has been one of the five-most impressive rookies this season. Since taking over starting power-forward duty, Turner has seen a major increase in both role and minutes. Over his last 18 games, Turner is averaging 15.9 points, 6.7 rebounds and 2.2 blocks. What's even more encouraging is that he is averaging 30 minutes and 13 shot attempts in that span. This is also a good matchup with power forward the lone weak spot for the Blazers, as he'll match up with Noah Vonleh or Meyers Leonard most of the game.

Luol Deng, MIA at NYK ($18) -
Since the injury to Chris Bosh, Deng has returned to being a great fantasy option. In fact, Deng is averaging more than 39 fantasy points a game across his last five games and has five consecutive double-doubles in that span. That's a ridiculous return on investment for a player below $20, and he's become a must-use player at this price. The matchup against the Knicks is not a bad one either, as their defense has regressed big time in recent weeks.

Forward to Avoid:

Marcus Morris, DET vs. TOR ($21) - Since the acquisition of Tobias Harris, Morris hasn't been the same player. Despite scoring 36 fantasy points in his most recent game, Morris only averaged 16 fantasy points a game in his three previous games. Rebounding has really hurt him, as Morris is averaging just 3.5 boards in his last eight games. This is a matchup that is scary too, with the Raptors ranking as one of the three-best defenses in the NBA. Look for the numbers and minutes to decrease over the final weeks of the season thanks to Detroit's depth.

CENTER

Hassan Whiteside, MIA at NYK ($31) - Whiteside has gone bonkers recently and his price simply hasn't risen enough. Whiteside has 197 fantasy points over his last four games, which is about 50 fantasy points a game. In that span, he is averaging 19.5 points, 17.3 rebounds and 4.5 blocks. If his recent form isn't enough incentive, his matchup against Robin Lopez should be, with the Knicks ranking 22nd in fantasy points allowed to centers in their last five games. The Knicks' offense has really struggled recently too, which gives Whiteside even more opportunistic for blocks and rebounds.

CENTER TO AVOID

Cody Zeller, CHA at ATL ($15) - Since the return of Al Jefferson, Zeller has seen a major decrease in role and minutes. Over his last three games, Zeller is averaging about 23 minutes a game, while averaging about 14 fantasy points a game. That's not terrible, but it's just not good enough with all the elite center options available in a slate like this. It likely will only get worse too, with Jefferson expected to see a bump in minutes the rest of the season.
