Strategy Tips

RotoWire subscribers have plenty of tools at their fingertips for building winning lineups, with the most-helpful tool coming in the form of the MLB lineup optimizer.

Using RotoWire's daily projections, the lineup optimizer will show you the highest projected lineup using FanDuel's salary limits. While simply generating the best possible lineup with one click of a button is the easiest way to get started, daily fantasy players can scroll below the optimizer and view each position's breakdown, looking for their own values within the available player pool.

When it comes to DFS strategy, why not take advantage of some of RotoWire's gifts this season? Use tools like the lineup optimizer in conjunction with our daily lineups and weather reports (the last thing you want to see is a Big Donut in terms of points because a game was rained out) in order to take home the gold.

Value Picks

PMatt Garza, Milwaukee Brewers at San Diego Padres

FanDuel Price: $8,300

Garza has been playing well this season in a short time span after coming off the disabled list and the Padres' bats are always a good bet for pitchers this season. In four games started he is 2-0 with a 2.66 ERA along with a .255 batting average against and a WHIP of 1.18 at pitcher-friendly park at Petco Park in San Diego. Even though Garza might not be the strikeout pitcher of old, the Padres bats are known to whiff a lot. In addition the Brewers hit well on the road.

3B Mike Moustakas, Kansas City Royals vs. New York Yankees

FanDuel Price: $3,500

When Moustakas is hot, he's hot especially against a pitcher that he has a good history against. And that is the case for Yankees starting pitcher Michael Pineda. Moustakas has two home runs in only 13 at-bats against Pineda while hitting .462 to go with a 1.231 slugging percentage and a 1.692 OPS. In addition the wind is supposed to be gusty blowing out at Kaufman Stadium.

1BChris Davis, Baltimore Orioles at Detroit Tigers

FanDuel Price: $3,500

Until the last week Davis has been to say the least disappointing and maybe some were saying that this might be the beginning of the end of Davis. But in the last week the O's slugger has really picked up his game especially with the batting average. In the last seven days Davis was hitting .467 with four home runs and seven RBI. The four dingers doubled his 2017 total. In addition he has eight home runs and 20 RBI in his career at Comerica Park.

OFOdubel Herrera, Philadelphia Phillies at Texas Rangers

FanDuel Price: $3,300

Herrera has had Texas starting pitcher Andrew Cashner's number in a small sample. In 11 at-bats he has smacked two home runs against Cashner with a .462 batting average to go with a 1.231 slugging percentage and 1.692 OPS.

OFBradley Zimmer, Cleveland Indians vs. Tampa Bay Rays

FanDuel Price: $2,100

This one is a gamble. If you want to go heavy for most of the other spots in your lineup and have very little money left you can take a shot Zimmer, one of the top prospects in the Indians farm system who was just called up on Tuesday. Maybe he got the nerves out of him as he struck out three times in his MLB debut on Tuesday night.

High Risk/High Reward

PErvin Santana, Minnesota Twins vs. Colorado Rockies

FanDuel Price: $9,300

Santana has averaged 40.3 points per game that he has started this year and he gets the Colorado Rockies on the road. Colorado is also fifth in the majors in number of strikeouts and also is 17th on the road in battling average while also 28th in the majors in home runs hit on the road. For Santana Colorado hitters are hitting only .243 with a .291 OBP and .437 slugging percentage.

1BJoey Votto, Cincinnati Reds at Chicago Cubs

FanDuel Price: $4,300

Votto has been steady and he has hit Cubs starting pitcher Kyle Hendricks well in the past with a .636 batting average, slugging percentage at 1.182 and OPS of 1.947. The tricky aspect of Wrigley Field is the wind where it can be a hitter's friend on some days and a pitcher's friend on other days depending on if it is blowing out or in. For Votto it shouldn't matter.

OFMike Trout, Los Angeles Angels vs. Chicago White Sox

FanDuel Price: $4,900

It definitely appears that Trout is over his hamstring injury as he clobbered a home run in four straight games. While Trout only has hit at a .158 clip against Wednesday night's White Sox starter Miguel Gonzalez he has smacked three home runs in only 19 at-bats against the Pale Hose's righty thrower.
