McCollum (foot) is expected to miss eight-to-10 weeks, SI.com reports. Lehigh confirmed Sunday that McCollum has a fractured fifth metatarsal in his left foot.

The injury occurred during Saturday's loss to VCU, and Lehigh will now have to scramble to compensate for the loss of McCollum's team-high 23.9 points per game. He's also second on the team in rebounds (5.0) and assists (2.9), so McCollum's loss will likely hurt Lehigh as they fight to stay near the top of the Patriot League standings.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

McCollum suffered an injury to his foot in the first half of the Mountain Hawks loss to VCU. He scored just four points in 15 minutes and did not make a shot from the field. Lehigh coach Brett Reed said, "It appears as if there may be a break in his foot. It is too early to make that diagnosis for sure."

This is devastating news for McCollum who is the nation's leading scorer at 23.9 points. He has had a history of ankle problems, but had his foot heavily wrapped while sitting on the bench in the second half. He was moving around gingerly with crutches. Sophomore Corey Shaefer played significantly more minutes against the Rams with McCollum out.

McCollum pumped in 36 points Friday in the loss to Baylor. He added eight rebounds, two assists, and three steals.

McCollum apparently didn't spend the summer enjoying the glory of having knocked out Duke in the first round of the 2012 NCAA tournament. Although he wasn't able to boost his team to a win, his sweet line allowed his fantasy owners to smile.
