Williams scored 24 points (8-11 FG, 6-8 FT) to go with three rebounds, two assists, two steals, two blocks, and two three-pointers in 36 minutes Wednesday as Minnesota won at Middle Tennessee during the quarterfinals of the NIT.

In three NIT contests, Williams has averaged 22 points, 4.7 boards, 1.3 assists, and one steal in 33 minutes, while shooting 68.4 percent from the field and 80 percent at the foul line. As the Gophers' main man all season after Trevor Mbakwe went down Nov. 27 with a torn ACL, Williams will lead Minnesota into the semifinals of the NIT on Tuesday, Mar. 27, against Washington.

Williams put up 20 points, six rebounds, four assists (versus two turnovers), three blocks, and two steals in 38 minutes as Minnesota lost in overtime Friday to Michigan during the second round of the Big Ten tournament.

Williams was near perfect from the floor (8-10 FG, 1-2 3Pt), but hit only 3-of-6 from the foul line to finish off his scoring for the Gophers. He has scored double-digit points in four straight matchups, averaging 15.3 points (on 53.5 percent shooting), 7.3 boards, 2.5 dimes, 1.8 swats, and 1.8 swipes in 37.8 minutes. Minnesota plays at LaSalle on Wednesday in the first round of the NIT.
