Johnson will be out indefinitely with a fractured right foot that will require surgery, ESPN.com reports.

The Gamecocks weren't expected to be contenders for the SEC title after languishing in non-conference play, but the loss of Johnson, their leading scorer and assist man, could keep the team near the bottom of the standings. Johnson is the second point guard the Gamecocks have lost this season, after Bruce Ellington, the leading receiver on the school's football team, decided to enter the 2014 NFL Draft.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Johnson had 14 points, six assists, five rebounds and a blocked shot during Monday's overtime loss to Connecticut.

Johnson continues to get the start at point guard with Maalik Wayns (knee) out with an injury and he had his best game of the season Monday night. He scored a layup with less than five seconds left in overtime to tie the game, although Connecticut's Shabazz Napier nailed a long three with less than a second to go to hand the Wildcats their third straight loss. While Johnson won't always light up the stat sheet, he's developing as a good player and could be someone to watch out for in the coming years.
