Bird posted 10 points, a team-high tying eight rebounds and one of four team steals Thursday as California edged out Arizona State 75-70 at home in Berkeley.

Bird converted just 25 percent of his shots from the floor (2-of-8, including a lone 3-pointer), but 5-of-6 free throws to finish one of three California starters eclipsing double figures in Thursday's contest. The junior also matched Ivan Rabb for most rebounds (8) by a Golden Bear and registered one of four team steals in the victory. The 6-6, 198-pound guard has now put together a pair of solid showings for head coach Cuonzo Martin, combining for 27 points, 11 rebounds, an assist and two takeaways in matchups against Stanford and Arizona State. Regardless, the Vallejo, CA native continues to average less than 10 points an appearance (8.5 points a game) for the year while adding 3.5 rebounds and an assist to his overall numbers an outing.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Bird is averaging 8.8 PPG and 3.7 RPG through California's first six games.

Bird's 8.8 PPG is actually a bit deceiving, as it's tainted by a zero-point performance against San Diego State. Without that, Bird is actually averaging 10.6 PPG while scoring at least 10 points every time out. His other stats are a bit inconsistent day in and day out, but his consistent scoring helps to offset that.
