Bird is dealing with a concussion and will sit out Tuesday's NIT matchup with CSU Bakersfield, Rusty Simmons of The San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Bird, as well as Ivan Rabb, are both slated to sit out with their respective injuries, which means Cal is slated to be without their two best offensive players who've combined to average 28.3 points per game so far this season. With both Rabb and Bird sidelined, we could see more Sam Singer, Stephen Domingo and Kameron Rooks, although the team has yet to release who will be starting in their places.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Bird notched a team-high 20 points (7-12 FG, 3-6 3Pt, 3-4 FT) and added three rebounds and three assists in the win over Oregon State on Wednesday.

Bird scored at least 20 points for the seventh time this season, but more importantly broke out of a recent cold stretch where he was just 7-of-28 from the field over his last three games. Cal will advance to the quarterfinals of the Pac-12 Tournament to take on Utah whom they split the season series against. In the first matchup on Feb. 2, Bird scored a season-high 26 points in a win.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Bird led his team in scoring Friday against Stanford, finishing with 23 points (8-17 FG, 7-12 3Pt), nine rebounds, one assist, and one steal.

After struggling with a back injury earlier in the season, Bird is determined to make up for his missed competitions. Friday marked his fifth 20-point game on the season, and his seven three-point completions were a season high as well. The senior guard is averaging 14.9 points and 5.1 rebounds on the year so far, and continues to see an average of 32.8 minutes on the court. The Golden Bears will host Oregon on Wednesday.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Bird scored 12 points (4-12 FG, 3-9 3Pt, 1-2 FT) while adding two rebounds and one assist in Saturday’s win over Oregon State.

Saturday was by no means the best game Bird has played this season, but it was enough to get the job done. As such, his production was slightly down from his season averages of 13.9 points, 4.6 rebounds and 0.9 assists per game. Bird will look to take his play up a notch and shoot a higher percentage from the field when the Golden Bears host Stanford on Sunday.

December 7, 2016

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Bird (back) had 13 points (5-11 FG, 1-5 3Pt, 2-2 FT) and eight rebounds across 28 minutes in Tuesday's victory over Princeton.

Bird had missed six consecutive games with a back injury, and although the senior did not draw the start, he came off the bench roughly five minutes into the contest. He proceeded to register the second most points on the team, helping make up for a rough shooting night from star Ivan Rabb (3-for-9). Both Bird's workload and team-high 11 field goal attempts suggest that any back injury is behind him, and that he could be a candidate to return to the starting lineup in the near future.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Bird (back) is not in the team's starting lineup for Tuesday's game against Hawaii.

Bird has been medically cleared and did warm up prior to Tuesday's game, but it looks as if the senior guard may end up not being active or will be limited off the bench for the Bears. If he does not end up playing, his next opportunity to play will be Wednesday against Seton Hall.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Bird (back) has been medically cleared to play Tuesday and is currently going through pregame warmups, but his status will not be determined until shortly before tip-off, CBS Sports' Jon Rothstein reports.

Bird's back injury has progressed to the point where he's medically cleared to take the floor Tuesday, but it'll be up to him to decide whether he's fully ready for game action. He's taking part in warmups and there's footage of him stretching out his back prior to tip Tuesday, but there won't likely be full confirmation until closer to the 7:00 ET start. Even if Bird is limited Tuesday, his medical clearance is a positive sign for his chances to return to the rotation in the near future.

December 3, 2016

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Bird (back) has been ruled out for Saturday's game against Alcorn State, CBS Sports' Jon Rothstein reports.

Saturday marks Bird's sixth consecutive absence due to his back injury. Grant Mullins figures to draw the start at shooting guard in Bird's absence Saturday. Bird's next chance to return will come Tuesday against Princeton.
