Bird scored 11 points and produced two rebounds and an assist off the bench Wednesday as California fell to UCLA 86-66 at home in Berkeley.

Bird, one of only two Cal players - both off the bench - to finish in double figures against the Bruins, earned his best scoring performance since Cal's last meeting with UCLA back on Jan. 26 in Wednesday's loss.

Bird on Sunday finished in double figures for the first time since suffering an ankle injury back in late December, but has combined for just 18 points in the four games he's played since his return to the hardwood Jan. 15.

Bird has missed Cal's past four games due to ankle issues, but appears to be ready for Wednesday's Pac-10 matchup. The freshman guard is averaging 11.3 points and 3.2 rebounds per game this season, and hitting 40 percent of his three-point shots.
