Smith had a rough night in a loss to Illinois Wednesday, shooting 0-for-7 from the field and 0-for-6 from three-point range with zero points.

The senior now has just 22 points in his last five games and is averaging less than 20 minutes in those games. It looks like he's fallen out of the regular rotation for Minnesota.

Smith was dreadful from downtown Saturday, finishing 1-of-9 and 3-of-11 overall for just seven points in the loss to Northwestern.

Smith posted career-high 29 points in a loss to Nebraska Sunday, adding three steals and a pair of rebounds.

Smith was unstoppable from long-range, shooting 8-of-12 beyond the arc. The senior will likely be relied on more heavily for scoring with Andre Hollins' nursing a sprained ankle.

Smith scored a season-high 19 points and added three rebounds and two steals in the Gophers' win over Nebraska-Omaha Friday.

Smith followed head coach Richard Pitino from Florida International and despite having a head start on the offense he has struggled to find a consistent role. The senior's best role is probably a scoring threat off the bench.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Smith, who transferred to Minnesota from FIU with coach Richard Pitino, will be eligible to play in 2013-14, the AP reports. Smith provided 14.7 points and hit 36.2 percent of his 3-pointers for the Golden Panthers.

Smith will have an advantage on returning and new Golden Gophers because he already knows Pitino's system and the coach has confidence in the 6-2 guard's shooting (he attempted 265 3-pointers). He could start for Minnesota and be a nice source of points.
