Johnson will be immediately eligible for the Cavaliers after completing his degree at Rutgers, The Loundoun Times-Mirror reports.

Johnson, a journeyman who has spent time at Kansas State and Rutgers, has completed a degree in criminal justice and will be immediately eligible final year at Virginia as a graduate transfer. The 6-foot-1 guard set career-highs in every meaningful statistical category in his junior year at Rutgers, and is poised to be an immediate contributor back in his home state. Whether he carves out a starting role or not remains to be seen, as he'll have to compete on a guard-heavy roster featuring Devon Hall, Ty Jerome and Kyle Guy. Regardless, 2017-18 is by far the best set-up Johnson has seen in terms of likelihood of making the postseason. He's a skilled ball handler, but the slow pace of the Virginia offensive scheme often limits a player's fantasy upside.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Johnson will earn his degree this spring and transfer to another program, Jerry Carino of NJ.com reports.

Rutgers will be losing one of its key backcourt contributors from this past season with Johnson headed elsewhere for his final season of eligibility. Johnson averaged 11.3 points per game over 26.2 minutes this season. He has yet to release a list of schools he'll be looking at for his final season.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Johnson had 23 points (9-17 FG, 5-6 3Pt), two assists, and two steals in Tuesday's loss to Purdue.

The Kansas State transfer recently lost out on his starting role after getting 13 consecutive nods from Dec. 14 to Jan. 31. He may have done enough to rejoin the lineup with Tuesday's strong outing. Johnson tends to be streaky as a shooter, however, and his five 3-pointers were a season high. Even with Tuesday's solid outing, Johnson is still shooting under 30 percent from 3-point range this season.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Johnson notched 11 points, including three three-pointers, in Saturday’s win over Nebraska.

After going scoreless in the previous game against Indiana, Johnson got back on track in Saturday’s contest. Despite playing just 24 minutes, the junior was the only Scarlet Knight to connect from behind the arc as he bumped his scoring average up to 11.3 points per game. Look for more consistent success from Johnson as conference play continues.

November 28, 2016

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Johnson tallied 11 points (4-of-11 FG, 2-5 3Pt, 1-2 FT), two rebounds, one steal, and one block in 27 minutes during Friday's close win over Hartford.

Johnson has emerged as a top scorer for Rutgers alongside Deshawn Freeman. The Kansas State transfer is averaging 12.8 points, 4.3 rebounds, 3.0 assists, and 1.7 steals in 25 minutes per game. Johnson has shot a decent 44 percent from the field, but from deep has hit a dismal 24 percent of shots. He'll need to up his efficiency in order to help the Scarlet Knights bounce back from a rough season last year, but he's gotten off to a good start.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Johnson will transfer from Kansas State to Rutgers, Kellis Robinett of the Kansas City Star reports.

Johnson averaged just 5.2 points and 1.7 assists as a sophomore for Kansas State, but showed potential last season, putting up games of 20 and 17 points. He is one of six players to depart from Kansas State this season and will look to play a key role in improving a struggling Rutgers program after sitting out the 2015-16 season because of transfer rules.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Johnson notched 17 points (7-13 FG, 1-4 3PT, 2-2 FT), along with nine rebounds and four assists in a win over Iowa State on Saturday.

The sophomore guard led the team in scoring over 34 minutes of action on Saturday. Johnson has seen his minutes rise over the last two games, as teammate Marcus Foster has continued to struggle. With a performance like this, we would expect to see Johnson on the floor quite a bit moving forward. He's averaged 18.5 PPG over those last two games.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Johnson (Ankle) was questionable coming into Saturday's contest, but suited up and played 20 minutes off the bench. He ended up with three rebounds and two assists, but was held scoreless.

The sophomore isn't getting a ton of run this season, averaging just 16.5 minutes per game, but saw 20 minutes on the floor Saturday. Still, he doesn't produce enough to be a viable option in fantasy at this point.
