Dismissed after altercation with coach
Griffin was dismissed from the Iona team after getting into an altercation with assistant coach Garfield "Ricky" Johns, the Rockland/Westchester Journal News reports.
ANALYSIS
Griffin provided 11.2 points and 5.2 rebounds in his first season with the Gaels after transferring from Illinois State. His suspension effectively ends his collegiate career. He and E.J. Crawford were expected to be one of the best frontcourt duos in the MAAC, but coach Tim Cluess will have to find another option. Jahnathan Maxwell or Niksa Nikolic, a pair of junior college transfers, could move into the starting lineup.
