Erickson was granted a sixth year of eligibility by the NCAA to play in 2016-17.
ANALYSIS
It's a unique case where the NCAA took into account Erickson's personal history before granting him the extra year. As a high school student in 2011, Erickson was a witness to a shooting, which caused him to suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder nearly a year and a half after the fact, which may have played a role in him transferring from Northwest Missouri State after two seasons with the program. He's since become an advocate for mental health, while emerging as a key rotation player for Omaha. In 2015-16, he played in all 32 of the team's contests (starting seven), averaging 3.5 points and 1.8 rebounds in 19.5 minutes per game.
