After defeating and eliminating the top team in the National Hockey League (NHL) the Washington Capitals, the Montreal Canadiens is not yet finish shocking the world.
The Canadiens included in its list of victims in the NHL playoffs the top-seeded and defending Stanley Cup champions the Pittsburgh Penguins.
The eight seeded Canadiens eliminated the Penguins with their tough defence and superb offence to moved into the NHL Eastern Conference Finals against either the Boston or Philadelphia.
The remarkable showing of the Canadiens is very laudable since no team has done it since the current playoffs format was adopted in 1994.
The Canadiens, who trailed the series 3-2 before winning 4-3 in Game 6, silenced the standing room crowd of 17,132 in the last game played at
49-year-old Mellon Arena by seizing a 1-0 lead on a power-play goal only 32 seconds into the game.
The Canadiens then built it to 4-0 with barely 25 minutes gone.
To successfully defeat the Penguins, the Canadiens handcuffed the top players of the Penguins lead by Crosby.
Penguins defenseman Brooks Orpik is sad with their loss but praised the outstanding performance of the Canadiens who he said deserve to get all the credits and accolades that it deserve.
With their remarkable NHL playoffs run, the Canadiens said they are now ready to face anyone in NHL playoffs and take the Stanley Cup crown this year.
Fans of professional hockey should make it a habit to watch the exciting NHL playoffs live by getting cheap NHL tickets.
