FantasyDraft NHL: Sunday Values

FantasyDraft NHL: Sunday Values

This article is part of our FantasyDraft NHL series.

There are four NHL games Sunday, including the second leg of a home-and-home between the Blues and Jets. You won't have to scrounge for options for your daily fantasy lineup, but on the other hand, you aren't spoiled for choice either. Hopefully this list of players to consider will help your decision-making.

GOALIE

Vegas Golden Knights, VGK vs. FLA ($16,200):Marc-Andre Fleury has been stellar since returning from injury, posting a 1.44 GAA and .952 save percentage in two contests. Meanwhile, Vegas has been great at home all season, posting a 12-2-1 record in its new digs. The Panthers are 6-9-2 on the road, and they've only scored 2.84 goals per game.

CENTER

Brayden Schenn, STL at WPG ($13,600): Though the Jets and Blues are on the second night of a back-to-back, that tends to lead to more scoring, which is good for a forward like Schenn. Though Connor Hellebuyck was saved for the home game, he's actually struggled after a hot start. In his last 15 games, he's posted a 2.85 GAA and a .902 save percentage. Schenn, though, has stayed hot. He has eight points and 22 shots on net in his last seven tilts.

Jonathan Toews, CHI vs. MIN ($12,700): Minnesota will be playing its second game in as many days, but since their Saturday game was an afternoon affair they may not be as impacted as other teams. Still, since Devan Dubnyk is considered week-to-week, Alex Stalock may have to play both halves of the back-to-back, or third-stringer Steve Michalek could be in goal. Toews has three goals and three assists in his last seven games, and he's averaged 3:43 per game on the power play this year.

WING

Brock Boeser, VAN vs. CGY ($13,800): Boeser has tallied 30 points in 30 games, and he's enjoying a five-game point streak. He's also notched a whopping 14 points on the power play. That's totally fine heading into this matchup, as Calgary has the 28th-ranked penalty kill. The Flames are also on the road for the second night of a back-to-back, which means unproven rookie netminder David Rittich will likely be in goal.

James Neal, VGK vs. FLA ($13,000): After a bit of a cold spell, Neal has turned it back on, as he has five points and 23 shots on net in his last five tilts. Overall, he's put 92 shots on goal in 31 games. That's noteworthy in this matchup, as the Panthers have allowed a whopping 35.1 shots on net per contest. With Roberto Luongo on injured reserve, James Reimer (3.48 GAA, .896 save percentage) is left minding the shop.

Brandon Saad, CHI vs. MIN ($10,900): Granted, Saad only has six assists, but he has 11 goals, and he's put 97 shots on net in 32 games. He's also playing a career high in minutes (18:33) and power-play minutes (3:23). The Wild had allowed 31.9 shots on net per game before Saturday's afternoon outing, and though Stalock has been good this year, he really struggled in his last two seasons in San Jose, which was the last time he played any real NHL minutes before this year.

DEFENSEMEN

Dougie Hamilton, CGY at VAN ($9,900): Hamilton has been in a bit of a rough patch, but he has 13 points this year, and he's had at least 42 points in his last three seasons. He's a proven point producer from the blue line. Additionally, he's started 54.7 percent of his shifts in the offensive zone, most among Calgary defensemen. He's also put 102 shots on net in 33 tilts. The Canucks, meanwhile, have a 3.43 team GAA in December (and a 3.20 team GAA in November).

Derrick Pouliot, VAN vs. CGY ($5,900): Pouliot is currently listed as a first-pair defenseman for the Canucks, and he's averaged 18:35 per night, a career high. He's also started 59.0 percent of his shifts in the offensive zone, tops among Canucks defensemen (and fifth overall). The 23-year-old has also played 2:10 a night on the power play, and he's notched four points with the extra man. The Flames had a team GAA of 3.03 before playing Saturday night, and Rittich is a 25-year-old rookie with four games to his name. Pouliot is a nice lower-priced option that could pay off, while letting you spend the money you save elsewhere.
