FanDuel NHL: Friday Value Plays

This article is part of our FanDuel NHL series.

It's been a long week. The NHL takes us into the weekend with six NHL games. Here are some of the best values you will find Friday.

GOALIE

Cam Talbot, EDM vs. DAL ($8,500): The Stars were an offensive juggernaut last season, but this year, owing in part to injuries, their offense has not been quite as dynamic. They will also be on the second night of a back-to-back Friday, and with Dallas' goaltending issues Edmonton has a great chance of winning. That goes a long way for Talbot, who also has a .921 save percentage on top of everything else.

CENTER

Auston Matthews, TOR vs. PHI ($5,900): It's been a while since Matthews scored a goal, and we are still bathing in the afterglow of that four-goal season opener to a degree. However, Matthews has remained active on offense, as he has 54 shots on goal in 13 games. The Flyers have gotten nothing from their goalies this season, and Matthews could easy light the lamp Friday.

Kyle Turris, OTT vs. LOS ($5,200):
The Kings will play their second game in two nights, and that could mean Jeff Zatkoff in net, or it could mean Peter Budaj in goal once again. He's not exactly Carey Price. Turris has six goals and eight points, and while his power-play minutes are down this year, this is still a good matchup for him.

WING

WING

Jordan Eberle, EDM vs. DAL ($6,600): As previously mentioned, the Stars have gotten some bad goaltending this season. Eberle plays on Edmonton's top line and has scored five goals on 44 shots in 13 games. He's having a good year, and that should continue in this game.

Patrik Laine, WPG at COL ($6,000):
It seems odd to see Laine at so low a price, given that the rookie has 11 goals already, including five on the power play. Semyon Varlamov has a .881 save percentage this season. If Laine keeps putting shots on goal like he has been, there is a good chance he'll add to that already impressive goal total. At this price, he looks like a great value.

Brayden Schenn, PHI at TOR ($5,500):
Yes, the Flyers struggle to prevent goals, but their offense has been as good as their defense has been bad. Schenn only has two goals, but he's taken 24 shots, so that should improve. He's also playing more than four minutes with the extra man. Oh, also the Maple Leafs have been just as bad at goal prevention as the Flyers. This should be a high scoring game.

Mitch Marner, TOR vs. PHI ($4,700):
Clearly, we're quite excited about the possibilities of this Flyers-Leafs game. Marner is yet another promising young player for Toronto, but he's cheaper than some of the others. Despite that, he can hold his own, as he has four goals and six assists in 13 games this season.

DEFENSEMEN

Rasmus Ristolainen, BUF vs. NJD ($4,700): This game is sort of the opposite of Philly-Toronto. Neither team scores much, but the Devils are starting Keith Kinkaid, so Buffalo has a slightly better chance of scoring. Ristolainen plays more than 25 minutes a night, and he has eight assists. He has no goals, but he's taken 24 shots, so eventually that is going to change. Ristolainen's price seems a little low, so even though this isn't a great matchup, it's a good value.

Erik Johnson, COL vs. WPG ($4,500):
The Jets are another team that allows a lot of goals but tries to make up for it with offensive firepower. That works well for a player like Johnson. He gets involved on offense, he has five assists and 26 shots on goal in 12 games, but he also has 34 blocked shots. He should be contributing on both ends of the ice, and this is a good matchup for that.
