DraftKings NHL: Saturday Picks

DraftKings NHL: Saturday Picks

This article is part of our DraftKings NHL series.

As is often the case on the weekend, there are three afternoon games Saturday that have been given their own set of contests. The games in question are Capitals-Canadiens, Kings-Flyers, and Jets-Avalanche. Don't fret, though. There are 10 games Saturday night, so you'll have plenty of players to choose from in you assemble a roster for the main slate.

GOALIE

Devan Dubnyk, MIN at VAN ($7,900): The Wild have far and away the best goal differential in the West (plus-50), and they are 7-3-0 in their last 10 games. Dubnyk has been a big part of that, as he has a stellar 1.96 GAA and .933 save percentage. Vancouver has only scored 2.27 goals per game, so they aren't likely to trouble him much.

CENTER

Logan Couture, SAN vs. ARI ($6,200): Arizona have given up 3.16 goals per game, and their 33.3 shots on net per contest is second worst in the league. Couture is having another fine season, as he's tallied 17 goals on 135 shots in 51 games. He's been playing quite well recently too, having notched seven points in his last seven games.

Ryan Johansen, NAS vs. DET ($5,500): The Red Wings will be playing on the second night of a back-to-back, which likely means Jared Coreau (3.01 GAA, .901 save percentage) in net. Johansen only has nine goals, but he also has 29 assists as Nashville's top-line center. He's also notched 15 power-play points, and the Wings rank 18th on the penalty kill.

WING

Artemi Panarin, CHI at DAL ($6,400): Dallas ranks dead last in penalty-kill percentage. That's a good sign for Panarin, who has played 3:23 per game with the extra man, notching a team-leading 15 power-play points in that time. In this matchup against the Stars' woeful penalty kill, Panarin is well worth this price.

Mike Hoffman, OTT at BUF ($5,800): The Sabres have managed to do something impressive in its own way, having now given up the most shots on goal per game in the NHL at 33.5 per contest. They also rank 29th on the penalty kill. Hoffman has registered 135 shots on goal in 44 games, and he's notched 17 power-play points this season. He's well equipped to take advantage of this matchup.

Sebastian Aho, CAR at NYI ($4,700): The Islanders will be playing on back-to-back nights, and whether or not they decide to give Thomas Greiss back-to-back starts or to go with Jean-Francois Berube will have some impact on Aho's fantasy ceiling. Either way, the Islanders have given up 32.8 shots on goal per game. The young Finn has notched 16 goals on 125 shots in 50 games, and he's also tallied nine power-play points. He's also been playing quite well recently, as he's notched eight points and 26 shots on goal in his last nine contests.

DEFENSE

Torey Krug, BOS vs. TOR ($5,000): Toronto's Opponent Rank vs. Position against defensemen is 30th in the league, in part because the Maple Leafs have allowed 32.1 shots on goal per game, making this a particularly favorable matchup for Krug. He has put a whopping 151 shots on goal in 54 games, although he only has four goals thanks to a 2.6 shooting percentage. Frederik Andersen has allowed eight goals on 40 shots in his last two starts, and while that's a small sample size, it's another minor point in Krug's favor.

Colton Parayko, STL vs. PIT ($4,800): The Penguins are playing on back-to-back nights and are coming off a tough overtime contest against the Blue Jackets, which could mean Marc-Andre Fleury (3.23 GAA, .904 save percentage) in net for Pittsburgh. Parayko has taken 125 shots on goal in 51 games, and he's also tallied nine power-play points. Pittsburgh has ceded 32.5 shots on goal per tilt, and their penalty kill ranks 24th. Additionally, the Penguins lead the league with 34.4 shots on net per contest. Parayko has blocked 78 shots, and he should have plenty of chances to add to that Friday.
