Comes up short in upset bid against Derek Anderson at Bellator 197
WelterweightBellator
April 13, 2018
Bucia lost to Derek Anderson via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27) at Bellator 197 on Friday in St. Charles, Mo.
ANALYSIS
Bucia came to Bellator last year riding a three-fight winning streak in Shamrock FC. In his Bellator debut, he fell victim to a submission from Neiman Gracie. In this fight, Bucia got to show off his own submission game early. He threatened with multiple armbar attempts in the first round. However, after that, Anderson realized he had a big advantage in the striking. From there, Bucia was in the backpedal and eating strikes. With that being said, he nearly shocked Anderson in the last minute of the fight. He landed a hard head kick that stumbled Anderson, but he survived. Bucia falls to 0-2 in Bellator, and this loss might have cost him his job with the promotion.

Submits for the first time against Neiman Gracie at Bellator 185
WelterweightBellator
October 20, 2017
Bucia lost to Neiman Gracie via submission (neck crank) at 2:27 of Round 2 at Bellator 185 on Friday in Uncasville, Conn.
ANALYSIS
Bucia had never been submitted before this fight. Then again, he had never faced a single-minded grappler like Gracie. From the start of the fight, Gracie worked for the submission and eventually got it in the second round. Bucia needed to find a way to keep his distance. Even when he stopped the takedown he opened the door for Gracie to take his back. After dropping his Bellator debut, Bucia's professional record falls to 18-9.
