RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Gray finished with 27 points (10-16 FG, 4-8 3Pt, 3-5 FT), six assists, three rebounds and one steal across 36 minutes during Sunday's 85-84 victory over the Lynx.

The Sparks fed the hot hand with less than 10 seconds remaining in the game, letting Gray take the reigns of the offense with the team down one. She delivered, hitting a pull-up jumper from the left elbow, securing a victory for Los Angeles during Game 1 of the Finals. She's been putting together an excellent postseason overall, averaging 17.3 points, 6.5 assists, 4.3 rebounds and 1.0 steals across 35.7 minutes per contest.

Chelsea Gray: Past News Updates   ( ▲ View most recent update )

September 20, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Gray finished with 14 points (6-14 FG, 2-7 3Pt), eight assists and five rebounds across 34 minutes during Sunday's 89-87 victory over the Mercury.

Gray has been a staple for the Sparks during these playoffs, never scoring less than 13 points or handing out less than six assists. With the Sparks securing the victory, they'll advance to face off against the Lynx in a rematch of the 2016 Finals. Gray played well against Minnesota during the teams' three regular season matchups, averaging 18.3 points, 3.3 assists, 3.0 rebounds and 2.3 steals across 37.0 minutes per game. She also shot 47.6 percent from the field and 40.0 percent from beyond the arc.

August 12, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Gray accumulated 23 points (8-17 FG, 2-5 3Pt, 5-5 FT), three rebounds, three assists and two steals across 37 minutes during Friday's 70-64 victory over the Lynx.

Gray has been playing well as of late, but hit 20 points for the first time since June 30 against the Dream. While she rarely has outbursts, she's been a model of consistency for the Sparks all season. For that reason, she makes for a great fantasy option in all formats.

August 8, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Gray tallied 12 points (3-11 FG, 0-4 3Pt, 6-6 FT), a season-high eight rebounds, four assists and one steal across 36 minutes during Sunday's 85-79 loss to the Wings.

Gray has stepped her game up over the past three outings, especially her supplementary stats, posting 13.0 points, 7.3 rebounds, 5.0 assists and 1.7 steals across 32.3 minutes per contest. While those rebounding and steal numbers are likely unsustainable for Gray, it could be worth deploying her in DFS while she's performing above average.

August 1, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Gray finished with 16 points (7-12 FG, 2-4 3Pt), eight assists, a season-high seven rebounds, a season-high three steals and one block across 32 minutes during Sunday's 95-74 victory over the Wings.

Gray, following an underwhelming outing Friday, bounced back in a big way Sunday. Not only did she match her season-high eight assists and one block, the 5-foot-11 guard set a season-high seven rebounds and three steals. Gray has shown plenty of potential to have an outing like this, and it all came together for her Sunday. This season -- her third year in the league -- Gray is posting 15.1 points, 4.4 assists and 3.0 rebounds across 32.6 minutes per game. Due to her general consistency in both workload and production, as well as her big-game potential, Gray remains one of the best backcourt options available in DFS.

July 29, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Gray provided seven points (3-6 FG, 1-3 3Pt), three assists, one rebound and one steal across 27 minutes during Friday's 85-73 victory over the Stars.

Gray saw one of her smallest workloads of the season Friday, largely taking a backseat to Odyssey Sims in the backcourt, who dropped 22 points on 9-of-12 shooting. Though Gray likely disappointed those who deployed her in DFS, Friday's outcome was probably an outlier. It seems safe to assume she'll be back up to her usual workload for the Sparks' next contest.

July 26, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Gray finished with eight points (3-11 FG, 0-2 3Pt, 2-2 FT), five assists and four rebounds across 35 minutes during Tuesday's 68-60 victory over the Storm.

Gray, normally a model of consistency for the Sparks, had a rare inefficient game Tuesday -- the Sparks' first game after the All-Star break. A 51.5 percent shooter from the field and 48.4 percent shooter from beyond the arc on the season, Gray made just 27.3 percent of her looks against the Storm in a defensive battle. That said, Tuesday's game can likely be interpreted as an outlier rather than a trend. Moving forward, Gray's fantasy value should continue to be high, as her consistent 15.5 points, 4.3 assists and 2.9 rebounds across 32.9 minutes per game make her one of the better backcourt DFS options available.

July 20, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Gray finished with 17 points (8-12 FG, 1-3 3Pt, 0-2 FT), six assists and one rebound across 35 minutes during Thursday's 82-80 loss to the Sky. She'll head into the All-Star break averaging 15.9 points, 4.3 assists and 2.9 rebounds across 32.8 minutes per game.

Gray, a model of consistency for the Sparks this season, has posted at least 15 points in eight of her past nine appearances. She's having a breakout season, setting career highs in nearly every statistical category (including field-goal and three-point percentage) in her first year as a starter. Overall, her consistent workload and production make her one of the better backcourt options available in DFS heading into the All-Star break.

July 18, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Gray tallied 16 points (7-9 FG, 1-2 3Pt, 1-2 FT), five assists and four rebounds across 32 minutes during Monday's 80-62 win over the Fever.

Gray has been a model of consistency for the Sparks all season, scoring single digits in just three of her 19 appearances. This -- Gray's third season -- is also a breakout campaign for her. She made just one career start prior to this year, but has started every game she's appeared in this season and is setting career highs in nearly every statistical category, including field-goal and three-point percentage. Overall, Gray's consistent workload of 32.7 minutes combined with her 15.8 points, 4.2 assists and 2.9 rebounds per game make her one of the better backcourt options available in DFS.

July 14, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Gray posted 17 points (6-11 FG, 3-5 3Pt), two rebounds, three assists and one steal across 31 minutes in Thursday's win over the Sun.

Gray was coming off her worst performance in over a month, as she scored just eight points in a loss to the storm, but it took her no time to get back on track with a very efficient scoring performance. What's help Gray recently is her incredibly hot shooting from outside the arc, as she has hit at least three shots from long range in four of her last five games and is shooting 54.2 percent on three-pointers in those five contests.

July 10, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Gray finished with eight points (4-10 FG), one rebound, six assists, two steals and one block across 34 minutes in Saturday's loss to the Storm.

Gray's performance Saturday ended her streak of five straight games with at least 15 points and 10 straight with at least 10. So, while it was surely a disappointing result for any Gray owners, it is likely just a minor bump in the road for the third-year player. With averages of 15.7 points and 4.2 assists per game, Gray has been a model of consistency all season and will continues to serve as a reliable DFS option with a fairly high ceiling.

July 7, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Gray finished with 16 points (6-13 FG, 3-6 3Pt, 1-2 FT), two assists and two steals across 34 minutes during Thursday's 88-77 loss to the Lynx.

Though Gray had a good night from the field, she didn't manage to grab any rebounds or hand out any assists for the first time all season. She also committed four turnovers, limiting her overall fantasy impact. While the two steals are nice, it certainly doesn't make up for the areas she struggled in. That said, Thursday was likely an outlier game for Gray -- not something that should be expected at all moving forward.

July 4, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Gray recorded 17 points (5-18 FG, 3-5 3Pt, 4-6 FT), six rebounds and three assists across 35 minutes during Sunday's 69-76 win over the Mystics.

While Gray shot just 28 percent from the field, she still got off a team-high 18 field goal attempts, which allowed her to post another impressive scoring total of 17 points. She's now scored 15 points or more in four straight games, which has boosted her average up to 16.2 points per contest. Despite having to play with stars Candace Parker and Nneka Ogwumike, Gray is still having a breakout season and will continue to be an intriguing fantasy option on any given night.

June 28, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Gray posted 15 points (5-7 FG, 5-7 FT), two rebounds, five assists, one steal and three turnovers across 37 minutes during Tuesday's 87-79 win over the Sun.

Gray continues to light it up from the field, combining to shoot 11-for-20 from the floor over the last two games. Despite the presence of stars Nneka Ogwumike and Candace Parker, Gray has slotted in well as a complementary piece and remains one of the team's top scorers. On the season, Gray is averaging 15.8 points, 3.2 rebounds and 4.4 assists across 32.3 minutes, which makes her a viable fantasy option on any given night.

June 25, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Gray recorded 17 points (6-13 FG, 2-3 3Pt, 3-3 FT), four rebounds and four assists across 35 minutes in Saturday's win over the Fever.

It was yet another strong performance for Gray, who has been putting up consistently solid numbers over the past two weeks. In her last five contests, Gray is averaging 19.2 points, 3.6 rebounds and 4.6 assists while playing over 30 minutes per game. Gray's consistently over as of late make her a very reliable DFS contributor across the board.

June 16, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Gray posted 19 points (5-9 FG, 1-1 3Pt, 8-9 FT), two rebounds, three assists and one steal over 33 minutes in Thursday's win over the Stars.

Gray's hot streak continued Thursday, as the third-year player is now averaging 22.3 points per game over her last three contests. Her high volume scoring is thanks in large part to her ability to get to the line recently, as she has attempted 26 free throws (making 22) over the course of those three games after attempting 19 total shots from the charity stripe through her first seven games of the season. While Gray is averaging a solid 4.5 assists per game, her fantasy value has become fairly reliant on her scoring ability, meaning a disappointing DFS performance could be just a poor shooting performance away.

June 14, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Gray tallied 24 points (8-10 FG, 1-2 3Pt, 7-7 FT), five assists, four rebounds and one steal across 33 minutes during Tuesday's 97-87 victory over the Wings.

Gray has now responded with back-to-back 24-point efforts after a three-game slump where she totaled 24 points. Considering her consistency before the slump and these two performances after, it seems fairly safe to say that her cold streak will just end up being a small blip on the season's radar. She's now averaging 15.9 points, 4.7 assists and 3.1 rebounds across 32.3 minutes per game while knocking down an impressive 53.7 percent of her shots overall and 44.0 percent of her looks from long range.

June 11, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Gray finished with 24 points (8-13 FG, 1-4 3Pt, 7-10 FT), eight assists, three rebounds, one steal and one block across 36 minutes during Saturday's 89-87 victory over the Mercury.

Gray's performance on Saturday busted her out of a three-game slump where she totaled 24 points on 8-of-22 shooting. She also matched her season-high eight assists and set a season-high seven made free throws. Gray is having a breakout season so far, as the Sparks have committed to making her part of the starting five, playing her 32.2 minutes per game. She's on pace to set new per-game highs in almost every category, but most impressively field-goal (50.6) and three-point (43.5) percentages.

May 31, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Gray posted eight points (3-7 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 2-2 FT), three rebounds, six assists, one steal, one block and two turnovers across 34 minutes during Tuesday's 90-75 win over the Liberty.

Gray, who has started off the season scorching hot, finally cooled down a bit Tuesday, as she took a backseat offensively to the superstar duo of Nneka Ogwumike and Candace Parker. Gray's seven shot attempts were far and away her lowest of the season, which also led her to a season-low eight points. With averages of 15.8 points, 2.4 rebounds and 4.2 assists across 31.4 minutes so far this year, Gray has earned the benefit of the doubt with her fantasy production, but if both Ogwumike and Parker continue to demand more of workload, some of that could come at the expense of Gray. Continue to monitor the situation moving forward.

May 27, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Gray tallied a career-high 25 points, as she reached double figures for the fourth consecutive game, in Saturday's 75-73 loss to Atlanta.

Gray was 9 for 14 from the field, including 3 of 5 from deep and 4 for 5 from the charity stripe in 32 minutes. She also grabbed two rebounds, dished out an assist and had a steal for the Sparks, in addition to six turnovers. Gray remains a consistent option and will likely retain her role with roughly 30 minutes per game.

May 25, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Gray recorded 16 points (6-11 FG, 3-4 3Pt, 1-1 FT), two rebounds, two assists, one steal and three turnovers across 32 minutes during Wednesday's 90-93 loss to the Fever.

After averaging just 5.9 points, 1.8 rebounds and 2.2 assists across 16.4 minutes during her first season with the Sparks in 2016, Gray has burst onto the scene to start the 2017 campaign, now logging double-digit scoring performances over the first three games. While fellow guard Odyssey Sims' (ankle) eventual addition back into the lineup could cut into Gray's production, it appears she's still set for roughly a 30-minute workload now that she's at least temporarily locked into the starting five, making her an intriguing mid-tier option in fantasy contests.

May 23, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Gray put up 16 points (6-12 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 4-4 FT), three rebounds, four assists, one steal and two turnovers across 32 minutes during Friday's 99-89 win over the Mystics.

After starting just one game during the 2016 season, Gray has worked with the top unit over the first two contests of the 2017 campaign, averaging an impressive 15.0 points, 2.5 rebounds, 6.0 assists and 1.5 steals over 29.7 minutes. She's combined to shoot 12-for-25 from the field and 2-for-4 from deep, so her shot is falling at a high rate. Fellow guard Odyssey Sims suffered an ankle injury as well and her status for Wednesday's tilt with the Fever remains uncertain, so there could be even more minutes available in the backcourt.

May 16, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Gray accumulated 14 points (6-13 FG, 2-3 3Pt), eight assists, two rebounds and two steals across 28 minutes during Saturday's 78-68 victory over the Storm.

Not only did Gray provide a nice mix of offensive and defensive statistics en route to season-opening victory, she committed just one turnover while doing so. The 28 minutes she saw during Saturday's victory also indicates that the Sparks are likely looking for Gray to take the next step with the team, as she was given just 16.4 minutes per game last season. If she can continue playing like she did Saturday, she'll cement herself as a significant part of the Sparks' plans moving forward.

May 9, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Gray contributed nine points (4-13 FG, 1-3 3Pt, 0-1 FT), five assists, four rebounds and one steal across 30 minutes during Saturday's 73-59 victory over the Stars.

Gray, a third-year player out of Duke, showed off her ability as an all-around playing during Saturday's exhibition contest. Last season with the Sparks, she averaged 5.9 points, 2.2 assists and 1.8 rebounds across 16.4 minutes per game while shooting 45.2 percent from the field and 30.4 percent from beyond the arc. While her three-point stroke dipped from the 34.8 percent mark she accomplished during her rookie campaign, she still boasts a solid 33.0 percent mark for her career.
