Past Fantasy Outlooks
2004
2003
Acevedo is a darkhorse to win the Pirates' vacant closing job, after signing a minor-league deal with them in the fall.
When Matt Anderson went down with a shoulder injury in May, Acevedo stepped in as the Tigers' closer and has a career year. As it turns out, his decent season priced him out of Detroit's 2003 plans; the club didn't offer him arbitration, so he became a free agent. He could close again this year if he lands in the right situation, but it's more likely he'll be a set-up man for some club in 2003.
