RotoWire's Preseason Outlooks

2013

Subscribe now to see our 2013 outlook.

2012

Gimenez provided quality catching depth for the Mariners last season and likely will reprise that role again this year. With Miguel Olivo and John Jaso handling the catching duty, though, Giminez likely will have to hang out at Triple-A Tacoma until he's needed (discounting the unlikely event that Mariners carry three catchers). Adam Moore, who missed nearly all last season with an injury, is in the mix, as well.

2010

Gimenez had been playing the role of organizational soldier, serving every role other than team barber, for the better part of five years before finally getting the call in 2009. He's a career .267/.380/.463 hitter in the minors, but hasn't done any damage above Double-A and hit just .144 in 111 at-bats for the Indians. He can play catcher, first base, third base and the corner outfield spots without embarrassing himself so he figures to give the Indians a cheap, jack-of-all-trades option in a utility role.
