2014

Jimenez made his major league debut in 2013, after being called up when Alberto Callaspo missed 19 games with tightness in his calf in April. After struggling initially, Jimenez was recalled from Triple-A Salt Lake once again when Chris Nelson landed on the disabled list, only to go to the DL himself after injuring both of his thumbs and shoulders in a game against the Rangers in September, which would keep him out for the rest of the season. His path to playing time at third base is now blocked by David Freese, but that may not mean much for Jimenez, after he finished 2013 in the majors with an OPS of .608, and walked only twice in 104 at-bats. The sample size may be small, but Jimenez will have to show some ability to handle major league pitching if he wants to be involved in the Angels' plans with a limited role going forward.
