2011
Coming over from the Reds in a cash deal, Del Rosario spent most of the season at Triple-A, posting a 3.09 ERA with 34 strikeouts in 64 innings. Del Rosario's fastball has slowed somewhat from his time in the minors, which shouldn't affect his game too much, since he was never quite able to translate that velocity into strikeouts anyway. He will battle a host of other relievers this spring for a spot in the Astros bullpen.
2010
Del Rosario throws hard but doesn't get the strikeouts you'd think would come with that. In 80.1 innings of relief, mostly split between High-A Sarasota and Triple-A Louisville, he had a combined 1.68 ERA and 54:12 K:BB, allowing just three homers on the year. Not surprisingly, he was an extreme groundball pitcher, posting a 3.23 G/F rate.
