2010
Mendez, 19, has spent the last two years in developmental leagues after signing with the Boston organization as a 16-year-old international free agent out of the Dominican. He has a 92-94 mph fastball, which he can dial up to 96 when needed. His secondary offerings are still developing -- the arm speed of his changeup doesn't mimic his fastball enough -- and he'll need clean up his mechanics as he enters his first full season of professional baseball. He's still young and the Red Sox are waiting to see him fill out his frame.
