2014

Parrino had a quick cup of coffee with the A's in 2013, but was a mess at the plate in his short time in the majors, hitting .118 with no home runs. He spent the vast majority of his season in Triple-A Sacramento, but did not fair much better there, hitting only .210 with four bombs over 367 at-bats. It was a strange year for Parrino as he hit over .325 in his prior two seasons in the minors. Parrino is now 28 and running out of time to make an impact within the organization, but his versatility to play three infield spots could give him a chance again with the A's if they suffer injuries during the 2014 campaign.

2013

Parrino was traded in the offseason to the A's as part of a deal that involved pitcher Tyson Ross. Part of the reason that the A's desired him is because Parrino can play second base, third base, shortstop and the outfield. Offensively, there's not much to Parrino's game as he hit .328/.400/.464 with one homer and six stolen bases over 265 plate appearances at Double-A San Antonio with the Padres organization. At 27 years old, he can take a base and that's about it, which severely limits his value to fantasy owners.

2012

Parrino is a mid-to-low level third-base prospect whose best asset is his ability to draw a walk. He makes average contact, but it's his 13.0 percent walk rate that has helped him maintain a .363 OBP in the minor leagues. Unfortunately though, that's about all he has to offer on the offensive front. He doesn't hit for power and 27 stolen bases over five seasons doesn't scream burner, by any means. Strikeouts have always been an issue for him, but after posting an impressive 86 percent contact rate in 2011 along with a slash line of .327/.399/.484 upon his promotion to Triple-A, Parrino received a callup late in the year. He still killed it in the walk department but struck out in over 30 percent of his at-bats and was overmatched. He'll start 2012 in Triple-A and may get another look if injury befalls anyone in the Padres' infield.
