Misael Siverio

Siverio signed a minor league contract with Seattle in November after spending a year pitching in Mexico following his defection from Cuba. He had a 1.94 ERA in the Serie Nacional in 2012-13, his last season in Cuba's top professional league, and was a starter for the team that won the championship. However, he had just a 6.3 K/9. He was more dominant in the Mexican Pacific League with a 11.1 K/9 in 29.1 innings. While Siverio is not seen having great velocity (high 80s fastball), he has a plus changeup. His upside may be as a lefty reliever in the majors, but it's possible he could work his way into the rotation. He'll likely begin the season in the minors but could be in the Seattle bullpen by summer.
