RotoWire's Preseason Outlooks

2014

There was no outlook written for Marvin Benard.

2004

Benard hasn't been healthy or useful in years, and at 33 is unlikely to break that streak. He'll be in someone's camp looking for a job, at least until security notices.

2003

Turns 33 during the offseason, lost much of 2002 due to a knee injury. His peak years have probably come and gone already, and, as he proved during 2001, he's certainly not a good defensive centerfielder. At this point, he's probably best used as a fourth outfielder or a lefty platoon bat in right field. It'll probably take Felipe Alou all spring to sort out his outfield, so check him in the spring.
