2008
Fasano filed for free agency and will be reporting to camp having recovered from offseason surgery to clean up his knee. He'll likely have to settle for a Triple-A contract, resurfacing in the majors for a few weeks when injuries dictate.
2007
Like many other backup catchers in the league, Fasano's career rides on his intangables behind the plate rather than his bat. After being acquired in a trade from the Phillies, Fasano hit just .143 with one homer in 49 at bats for the Yankees. He'll catch on somewhere as a backup, but his chances of hitting 10-plus homers again are very slim at best.
2006
Fasano parlayed 11 homers in 160 at-bats in 2005 into a free-agent deal with the Phillies this season. Barring injury to starter Mike Lieberthal, the 34-year-old shouldn't get close to that many times at the plate in 2006.
