RotoWire's Preseason Outlooks
There was no outlook written for Danny Patterson.
Patterson should have been long gone by now, but he fought back from injury to be one of the Tigers' better pitchers out of the bullpen last season. If he can stay healthy, he might have the inside track on the Tigers' closing job.
Elbow surgery nixed most of his 2002 season; before that, Patterson was one of those effective set-up types who seemed to do well in spite of a low strikeout rate. In other words, we've been waiting for the other shoe to drop for a while on him. If you want to spend your endgame buck on Patterson, now 32, that's your business. We'll pass.
