Tam claims bad mechanics led to his struggles for the A's early on, and he pitched better at Triple-A (36 runners in 29 innings, 26 Ks and just two home runs allowed) than the 5.59 ERA would suggest. He pitched better after being called up but became a free agent after the A's failed to pick up their contract option. He quickly signed with Toronto and should be a reliable middle reliever again.
