Almanza signed a minor league deal with the White Sox this winter and will get an opportunity to compete for a bullpen spot as the team's second lefty this spring.

2004

Almanza started out unhittable, but bone spurs in his elbow derailed his season. He should be fine by this spring, and could be a strong setup man in Atlanta.

2003

Almanza is a lefty specialist, and while his recovery from elbow surgery was a little rough, left-handed batters still only slugged .364 off him in 2002.
