2013
There was no outlook written for Chris Woodward.
2008
Woodward can play all four infield positions, but his fantasy value is limited since he lacks power or speed. After two down years at the plate, he's not a lock for major league work.
2007
Woodward played much of the season with a torn labrum in his left shoulder, which largely contributed to the sharp decline in his numbers. If healthy, Woodward will compete for a utility role with the Braves.
2006
Woodward, previously a starting shortstop, was a jack-of-all-trades for the Mets, seeing time at seven different positions in 2005. He alternated good and bad months for the entire season but showed enough to earn manager Willie Randolph's confidence. Woodward will concentrate more on the middle infield this season with the Mets.
2005
Woodward spent five weeks on the DL with a hamstring injury early in 2004, which might have been the high point of his season. He was given a brief chance in August to play everyday and responded with a .516 OPS before Russ Adams was called up. He could make the Mets this spring as a utility infielder. Given Jose Reyes' propensity to get hurt, it wouldn't be surprising to see Woodward get 250-300 at-bats. However, don't expect a revival as his 2002 season has "fluke" written all over it.
2004
Woodward struggled to find his power that he displayed in 2003, which resulted in Mike Bordick getting most of the starts at short the final 10 weeks of the season. He will find himself as the starting shortstop again to start the 2004 season, and there's 15 HR/60 RBI potential if he can get off to a good start.
2003
Nothing fluky about his season, and he'll be the everyday shortstop for Toronto in 2003. There's 20 HR potential here, and ample RBI opportunities if Toronto slides him behind Eric Hinske, Carlos Delgado, Josh Phelps and Vernon Wells.
