Wise will live on forever in Chicago sports lore as the man who saved Mark Buehrle�s perfect game. Unfortunately, he was pretty awful at the plate, hitting .225/.262/.366 in his 142 at-bats. His ceiling is a reserve defense/first outfielder, and he'll compete for a bench spot with the Phillies during spring training.

2009

Wise rode a hot couple of months at Triple-A to regular playing time in the AL Division Series. It was an indictment of the Sox outfield, as well as the team's opinion of Nick Swisher, that he played as much as he did. Wise is a marginal extra outfielder -- last year included, he has a career .310 OBP in the minors.

2005

Wise actually saw a significant amount of major league action in 2004, playing in 77 games. Due to his lack of production, the Braves released him at the end of the season, whereupon the Tigers claimed him off waivers.

2003

Reserve outfielder who will see his at-bats dwindle now that Jayson Werth is around.
