2013
There was no outlook written for Erick Almonte.
2004
Almonte spent 2003 shuttling between Triple-A Columbus and the majors, although he was out of commission for six weeks because of a sprained right knee. When he had his chance to fill in for an injured Derek Jeter at the major league level, he was average offensively at best and subpar defensively. Once again, he'll likely toggle between the minors and majors unless he's traded to a rebuilding team.
2003
Slowed by a groin injury, Almonte batted .238 with 17 homers and 61 RBI at Double-A and Triple-A last season with an unacceptable 119/45 K/BB ratio. But improved plate discipline in the second half of the season along with big numbers in the Triple-A postseason could give him a chance to make the Yankees as a bench bat.
