RotoWire's Preseason Outlooks

2014

There was no outlook written for Delvin James.

2004

.

2003

James pitched well in some spot starts for the Devil Rays in April and May last year before being sent to Triple-A for injury rehab (shoulder stiffness), where he pitched well before being injured in a restaurant shooting incident. The wounds weren't serious and he came back to earn a save for Durham in Game One of the IL finals before getting into two games with the Devil Rays in the last week of the year. He'll have a chance to earn a major-league job in either the rotation or long relief in 2003; watch his spring outings to see how Lou Piniella intends to use him. He's no Mark Prior, but he could become a serviceable back-of-the-rotation pitcher.
