2013
There was no outlook written for Michael Ryan.
2005
Ryan missed most of the 2004 season with a shoulder injury which likely puts him even further behind the logjam of outfield talent in the Minnesota organization. Ryan has showed strong power in the minors and looked good in a brief stint with the Twins in 2003. He'll need a number of breaks to get playing time with the Twins, but he could provide surprising power if given an opportunity.
2004
Ryan could compete for the starting right field job if Jacque Jones is traded after making a surprising splash late in 2003. Ryan struggled at Triple-A last season with a .225 average and just 15 home runs (after 31 at Triple-A in 2002). However, a rash of injuries found him in the majors where he hit an amazing .393/.441/1.195 with five home runs in 61 at-bats over the last six weeks of the season. Which Ryan will show up in 2004? His 2002 minor league numbers show he has the power to stick in the majors. He could find his way into a platoon at DH with Matt LeCroy if he plays well this spring. He's a solid reserve pick with upside if he wins a regular job.
2003
Ryan gets lost in the depth of talent at outfield in the Minnesota organization, but he's quietly improving to the point where he could help some major-league team. Even in the hitter-friendly PCL, his power numbers were impressive. However he's unlikely to get a shot at the major leagues with the Twins any time soon. But he's a name to watch if he's suddenly traded to another organization.
