SSCincinnati Reds  AA
May 25, 2007
The Reds outrighted Cruz from their 40-man roster.
ANALYSIS
This leaves the Reds with an open spot. Might this be a harbinger of Homer Bailey's callup? Probably not, but it probably does foretell some additional roster move.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2006
2004
2003
Cruz played very well for Double-A Huntsville in 2005, hitting .300 and displaying a little power. But he lacks plate discipline and is now 24 years old. He should move up to Triple-A for 2006 and may get a shot on the Brewers bench late in the season.
Cruz spent the 2003 season with his pants stapled to the bench. As a Rule 5 draftee, he couldn't be sent to the minors but was not ready for the majors. He'll probably be assigned to Double-A Huntsville to start 2004 and may make it back to Milwaukee in 2005 or 06.
Cruz hit .294 and drove in 45 runs in 459 at bats at A St. Lucie. He's a long-term project that was claimed in the Rule 5 draft by the Brewers, so he may not have the luxury of time that he needs to develop.
