Hill was removed from the roster of the AFL's Grand Canyon Rafters this week with an apparent elbow injury, Scout.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Hill had recovered from Tommy John surgery in July 2004 to pitch for Double-A Binghamton beginning in July 2005. He was promoted to Triple-A Norfolk for the playoffs and had a shot at making the Mets next spring. There has been no word as to the severity of the injury, but red flags have to go up since it occurred in his pitching elbow. Hill was replaced on the Rafters' roster by Henry Owens, who was a Rule 5 minor-league selection from the Pirates prior to the 2005 season and spent the year with High Single-A St. Lucie, where he went 2-5 with a 3.15 ERA and four saves in 38 appearances.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2004
2003
Hill was acquired from the Royals for Grahame Lloyd midseason in 2003. He regressed in 2003 after a solid 2002 season spent mostly at Triple-A Omaha. Hill features a plus fastball and little else, and is targeted to begin 2004 back in the minors.
Hill is a lot like Ryan Bukvich in that he can throw a hard, and sometimes unhittable, fastball, but doesn't have much else. He has the build and mentality of a catcher, which was his position when he was drafted in 1996. After a great 2002 in Wichita (76 IP, 80 Ks), look for him to progress to Omaha and push for the Kansas City closer spot in 2004.
